  1. This will be a congratulations and welcome to the University from Professor Caroline McMillen, the Vice-Chancellor and President of the University.

  3. Refer to the points above and comment on the following points: Number 3: There are Priority Research Centres and Centres for Excellence in the Faculties of Health and Engineering Number 4: Our Joint Medical Program is the first Bachelor program of its kind in Australia which is run in partnership with the Uni of New England, Hunter New England Area Health Service and North Sydney and Central Coast Area Health Service. Number 5: We employ some of the world’s Top researchers – eg Professor John Forbes (Breast Cancer research), Laureate Professor Graham Jameson (famous for the Jameson Cell – Chemical Engineering), Professor Jim Denham (prostate cancer), Laureate Professor John Aitken (reproductive biology), Laureate Professor Graham Goodwin (electrical engineering), Laureate Professor Scott Sloan (civil engineering), Laureate Professor Jonathon Borwein (mathematics), Laureate Professor Rob Sanson-Fisher (public health).

The role of the Chancellor is to provide leadership and guidance to the University Council and is responsible for ensuring the Council fulfils its obligations. The main responsibilities are to chair Council meetings, guide and mediate Council actions in relation to organisational priorities and governance, and represent the Council to external bodies and the community for the University. The Vice Chancellor is like our CEO, who is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the University.
  6. Refer to web reference for latest version – and handout.
  7. Perhaps note who is located in the Chancellery.
  8. There are no more sessions for 2012 – next session is planned for 15 May 2013. Note name change.
