   What
  is
  Science
  fiction
  ?
  Science
  fiction
  is
  not
  easy

  to
  define,
  as
  it
  includes

a
  wide
  range
  of
  subgenres
  and
  themes.
  According
  to
  science
  fiction
  writer
  Robert

A.
  Heinlein,
  "a
  handy
  short
  definition
  of
  almost
  all
  science
  fiction
  might
  read,

realistic
  speculation
  about
  possible
  future
  events,
  based
  solidly
  on
  adequate

knowledge
  of
  the
  real
  world,
  past
  and
  present,
  and
  on
  a
  thorough
  understanding

of
  the
  nature
  and
  significance
  of
  the
  scientific
  method.

  Rod
  Serling's
  definition
  is

fantasy
  is
  the
  impossible
  made
  probable.
  Science
  fiction
  is
  the
  improbable
  made

possible.
  Among
  all
  the
  science
  fiction
  movies
  I
  decided
  to
  compare
  Wall
  –
  E
  and

Big
  hero
  6.

   First
  similarity
  both
  main
  characters
  in
  this
  movie
  have
  the
  similar

personality.
  They
  both
  have
  very
  high
  curiosity.
  Wall
  -‐
  E
  has
  been
  alone
  for

hundred
  of
  years,
  he
  has
  developed
  a
  “glitch”
  sentience
  and
  personality.
  He
  has

become
  very
  curious
  and
  he
  collects
  anything
  interesting
  he
  can
  find
  during
  his

job.
  Even
  though
  he
  still
  obediently
  follows
  his
  directive,
  Wall
  –
  E
  can
  get

distracted,
  collecting
  some
  of
  the
  trash
  rather
  than
  comparing
  it
  all.
  Likewise,

Baymax
  is
  a
  healthcare
  robot.
  Baymax
  is
  rather
  calm
  even
  when
  in
  dangerous

situation,
  and
  takes
  his
  time
  thinking
  of
  ways
  out
  of
  even
  then
  simplest
  of

situation.
  Baymax
  is
  also
  very
  curious
  of
  his
  surroundings
  and
  tends
  to
  get
  easily

distracted.

   Correspondingly,
  in
  this
  two
  movies
  two
  human
  character
  share
  the
  same

personality
  too,
  which
  is
  Hiro
  Hamada
  and
  Captain
  B.
  McCrea
  both
  of
  them
  are

very
  brave.
  Hiro
  Hamada
  is
  a
  young
  boy
  with
  intelligence
  far
  beyond
  his
  years.

As
  time
  would
  move
  on
  following
  the
  events
  of
  Tadashi's
  death,
  Hiro
  would

slowly
  shape
  into
  a
  heroic,
  wise
  and
  inspirational
  leader,
  following
  in
  his

brother's
  footsteps.
  Such
  traits
  passed
  down
  include
  Tadashi's
  philosophy
  of

"looking
  for
  a
  new
  angle",
  as
  well
  as
  the
  devotion
  to
  do
  whatever
  necessary
  to

help
  others
  and
  make
  the
  world
  a
  better
  place
  for
  all,
  especially
  the
  innocent
  and

deserving
  .
  As
  Well
  as
  Captain
  B.
  McCrea
  he
  is
  also
  brave
  .
  Captain
  B.
  McCrea

assumed
  that
  Eve
  was
  malfunctioning,
  and
  had
  GO-‐4
  send
  her
  to
  the
  Repair

Ward.
  Upon
  seeing
  the
  dirt
  that
  had
  come
  from
  WALL-‐E's
  hand,
  the
  confused

Captain
  asked
  that
  the
  robot
  be
  cleaned
  up.
  However,
  Captain
  B.
  McCrea

  saved

the
  dirt
  and
  had
  the
  computer
  analyze
  it,
  which
  led
  to
  him
  researching
  about

Earth.
  He
  quickly
  became
  fascinated
  by
  all
  of
  the
  different
  things
  and
  customs

that
  he
  had
  seen.

   We
  can
  see
  a
  very
  similar
  moral
  value
  from
  this
  two
  movie
  .
  which
  is

never
  easily
  give
  up
  .
  Even
  though
  Hiro
  and
  Tadashi
  don't
  get
  the
  happily
  ever

after
  ,
  this
  is
  still
  a
  story
  about
  the
  power
  of
  brotherly
  love,
  encouragement,
  and

support.
  As
  the
  adorably
  wise
  Baymax
  explains
  to
  Hiro,
  Tadashi
  is
  still
  with
  him,

even
  if
  not
  physically.
  They're
  all
  memorable
  supporting
  characters,
  but
  in
  the

end
  the
  strength
  of
  this
  movie
  is
  the
  Hamada
  brothers
  and
  Baymax,

who's
  impossible
  not
  to
  love.
  On
  the
  other
  hand
  ,
  It's
  important
  to
  remember
  that

WALL-‐E
  is
  not
  any
  sort
  of
  superhero,
  indeed
  he
  is
  technically
  outdated
  and

obsolete.
  But
  somehow
  he
  surpasses
  his
  limited
  programming
  and
  instead
  of

Wall
  –
  E
  being
  his
  designation
  or
  model,
  it
  actually
  becomes
  his
  name.
  When
  he

encounters
  Eve,
  he
  does
  actually
  abandon
  his
  directive
  but
  his
  devotion
  to
  her
  is

just
  as
  remarkable
  as
  it
  was
  to
  his
  original
  mission.
  He
  follows
  her
  beyond
  the

heavens
  and
  when
  he
  learns
  of
  her
  directive,
  he
  realizes
  that
  it
  is
  far
  more

important
  than
  his
  own,
  something
  she
  doesn't
  even
  grasp
  fully.

  Living
  in
  a
  very
high tech environment is not always a good thing . For
example , in movie Wall – E,
  Captain
  B.
  McCrea

  almost
  always
  confined
  to
  a

hoverchair.
  Most
  of
  the
  day-‐to-‐day
  management
  of
  the
  ship
  was
  handled

by
  Auto
  and
  the
  ship's
  computer
  ,
  this
  lead
  him
  to
  extremely
  obese
  which
  is
  not
  a

good
  thing
  .
  In
  the
  movie
  big
  hero
  6
  ,
  which
  people
  are
  living
  in
  a
  quite
  high
  tech

environment
  too
  ,
  for
  example
  people
  trying
  to
  take
  over
  other
  people
  invention

for
  own
  benefit
  ,
  like
  a
  evil
  super
  villain
  trying
  to
  take
  over
  Hiro’s
  invention
  and

claim
  as
  theirs
  .

In
  conclusion
  ,
  I
  learn
  a
  lot
  from
  these
  two
  movies
  .
  I
  highly
  recommend

this
  movie
  to
  all
  my
  friends
  and
  family
  to
  watch
  ,
  because
  of
  this
  movie
  I
  learn

the
  important
  of
  encouragement
  ,
  love
  ,
  and
  support
  from
  one
  another
  you
  make

you
  walk
  further
  in
  life
  .

  • 2.       What  is  Science  fiction  ?  Science  fiction  is  not  easy    to  define,  as  it  includes   a  wide  range  of  subgenres  and  themes.  According  to  science  fiction  writer  Robert   A.  Heinlein,  "a  handy  short  definition  of  almost  all  science  fiction  might  read,   realistic  speculation  about  possible  future  events,  based  solidly  on  adequate   knowledge  of  the  real  world,  past  and  present,  and  on  a  thorough  understanding   of  the  nature  and  significance  of  the  scientific  method.    Rod  Serling's  definition  is   fantasy  is  the  impossible  made  probable.  Science  fiction  is  the  improbable  made   possible.  Among  all  the  science  fiction  movies  I  decided  to  compare  Wall  –  E  and   Big  hero  6.       First  similarity  both  main  characters  in  this  movie  have  the  similar   personality.  They  both  have  very  high  curiosity.  Wall  -‐  E  has  been  alone  for   hundred  of  years,  he  has  developed  a  “glitch”  sentience  and  personality.  He  has   become  very  curious  and  he  collects  anything  interesting  he  can  find  during  his   job.  Even  though  he  still  obediently  follows  his  directive,  Wall  –  E  can  get   distracted,  collecting  some  of  the  trash  rather  than  comparing  it  all.  Likewise,   Baymax  is  a  healthcare  robot.  Baymax  is  rather  calm  even  when  in  dangerous   situation,  and  takes  his  time  thinking  of  ways  out  of  even  then  simplest  of   situation.  Baymax  is  also  very  curious  of  his  surroundings  and  tends  to  get  easily   distracted.     Correspondingly,  in  this  two  movies  two  human  character  share  the  same   personality  too,  which  is  Hiro  Hamada  and  Captain  B.  McCrea  both  of  them  are   very  brave.  Hiro  Hamada  is  a  young  boy  with  intelligence  far  beyond  his  years.   As  time  would  move  on  following  the  events  of  Tadashi's  death,  Hiro  would   slowly  shape  into  a  heroic,  wise  and  inspirational  leader,  following  in  his   brother's  footsteps.  Such  traits  passed  down  include  Tadashi's  philosophy  of   "looking  for  a  new  angle",  as  well  as  the  devotion  to  do  whatever  necessary  to   help  others  and  make  the  world  a  better  place  for  all,  especially  the  innocent  and   deserving  .  As  Well  as  Captain  B.  McCrea  he  is  also  brave  .  Captain  B.  McCrea   assumed  that  Eve  was  malfunctioning,  and  had  GO-‐4  send  her  to  the  Repair   Ward.  Upon  seeing  the  dirt  that  had  come  from  WALL-‐E's  hand,  the  confused   Captain  asked  that  the  robot  be  cleaned  up.  However,  Captain  B.  McCrea    saved   the  dirt  and  had  the  computer  analyze  it,  which  led  to  him  researching  about   Earth.  He  quickly  became  fascinated  by  all  of  the  different  things  and  customs   that  he  had  seen.       We  can  see  a  very  similar  moral  value  from  this  two  movie  .  which  is   never  easily  give  up  .  Even  though  Hiro  and  Tadashi  don't  get  the  happily  ever   after  ,  this  is  still  a  story  about  the  power  of  brotherly  love,  encouragement,  and   support.  As  the  adorably  wise  Baymax  explains  to  Hiro,  Tadashi  is  still  with  him,   even  if  not  physically.  They're  all  memorable  supporting  characters,  but  in  the   end  the  strength  of  this  movie  is  the  Hamada  brothers  and  Baymax,   who's  impossible  not  to  love.  On  the  other  hand  ,  It's  important  to  remember  that   WALL-‐E  is  not  any  sort  of  superhero,  indeed  he  is  technically  outdated  and   obsolete.  But  somehow  he  surpasses  his  limited  programming  and  instead  of   Wall  –  E  being  his  designation  or  model,  it  actually  becomes  his  name.  When  he   encounters  Eve,  he  does  actually  abandon  his  directive  but  his  devotion  to  her  is   just  as  remarkable  as  it  was  to  his  original  mission.  He  follows  her  beyond  the   heavens  and  when  he  learns  of  her  directive,  he  realizes  that  it  is  far  more   important  than  his  own,  something  she  doesn't  even  grasp  fully.
  • 3.   Living  in  a  very  high tech environment is not always a good thing . For example , in movie Wall – E,  Captain  B.  McCrea    almost  always  confined  to  a   hoverchair.  Most  of  the  day-‐to-‐day  management  of  the  ship  was  handled   by  Auto  and  the  ship's  computer  ,  this  lead  him  to  extremely  obese  which  is  not  a   good  thing  .  In  the  movie  big  hero  6  ,  which  people  are  living  in  a  quite  high  tech   environment  too  ,  for  example  people  trying  to  take  over  other  people  invention   for  own  benefit  ,  like  a  evil  super  villain  trying  to  take  over  Hiro’s  invention  and   claim  as  theirs  .   In  conclusion  ,  I  learn  a  lot  from  these  two  movies  .  I  highly  recommend   this  movie  to  all  my  friends  and  family  to  watch  ,  because  of  this  movie  I  learn   the  important  of  encouragement  ,  love  ,  and  support  from  one  another  you  make   you  walk  further  in  life  .
