5. What is the Standard?
The best way we currently know how to do
something is a Standard. A Standard gives us
something to measure against and to improve
from. A Standard may also be a budget, a
goal, or an ideal. Standards do not have to be
perfect and permanent, they should develop.
7. How do we improve
the Standard?
We use the Standard as a basis for
improvement. Standards can improve as we
learn more, get more efficient, improve another
aspect of the process, or have new experiences
or ideas. A Standard is not improved if it is not
documented, trained, and consistently used.
9. Why do we track?
Based on tracking how we follow the
Standard, we will have an opportunity, either
to correct, maintain or enhance where we
are. We need to set up easy ways to track
and support the Standard. This may include
routine audit or mistake proofing.
