3. Like all lean activities, Gemba Walking
is improved with preparation and the
proper orientation. This slide set walks
5 items, the frame model, that will help
us with our orientation and walking.

The

model
respect
awareness
meekness
effort
5. Come with
focus
If we clear our minds and focus on being truly
present when we go tho the Gemba, we will
see and recognize what we otherwise will miss.
6. Come with
respect
Without respect we will never see the real Gemba.
People sense how we feel about them and their
work. We must come with and show respect.
7. Come with
awareness
Awareness is recognizing what is happening
around us, making connections, and
understanding the relationships that exist. We can
remind ourselves to be aware of our surroundings.
8. Come with
meekness
Meekness is gentleness with knowledge. We need
others to share and teach us. This enhances our
knowledge and allow us to see things as the really
are and not how we expected them to be.
9. Come with
effort
Our efforts will be rewarded. Gemba walking
is not easy. We must work to learn to see and
to be patient in our efforts to build trust and to
learn what is happening and find root cause.
