We were invited to speak at a meeting of the student chapter of IGAEA at UH on April 23, 2013. We talked about who we are, what we do, and how we got here. Then we gave advice to students about how to make their degree more valuable and provided some resources on how to do that.

Wordpress – easiest way to have a professional website and blog.
Look for premium templates from reputable developers, then
customize it
LinkedIn – your arena to establish yourself as an expert, even as
a recent grad. Get those recommendations, participate in groups
and discussions, connect with people
Twitter – the perfect platform to share resources and content and
conversate with industry professionals informally. But be smart!
Use a separate account if you have to
Wetfeet.com – excellent website for job seekers
Houston Social Media Breakfast – meet once a month to discuss
industry topics and network, and eat delicious food.
