- This is aimed ay Year 8, to introduce the Perfect tense, first with AVOIR verbs
- The idea is to stress, imprint early in students’ mind that you need 2 components to build the perfect tense as too often they remember the verb with different ending but quickly forget the part of avoir or etre.
- You may want to ask students if they remember what form AVOIR takes with JE, TU etc… before putting the next slide.
- Get students to start building their full verbs. Comment dit-on … en Francais? Verifie avec ton partenaire… Alors, qu’est-ce que c’est?
- Qu’est-ce que tu as fait? Verifie avec ton partenaire et leve la main etc… Use backspace for recap and memorisation
- You may want to explain the notion of “verbes irreguliers”
- Quick game for reinforcement
- Again, reinforcement but pictures only flash, forcing students concentration and memorisation without picture support. With added twist of “Qu’est-ce qui manque?” at the end.
- Same game as before with Qu’est-ce qui manque? At the end.
- Opportunity for pair work. “Je pense à quelque chose” “Est-ce que tu as ,,,? Etc…
- Pictures flick once only with “Qu’est-ce qui manque” at the end.
- Sentence building. Students can work in pairs or in groups of 4. Also, opportunity for written consolidation.
- Prompt for further pair work or written consolidation.
