An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual with an interest and
experience in moving & handling and breakaway techniques to join our Faculty
technical team under the direction of the technical team leader. You will play a
key role in the development and delivery of moving & handling and breakaway
training for, primarily, pre-registration nursing and midwifery students.
Additional areas of responsibility include the monitoring of student attendance and
performance as part of the Nursing and Midwifery Council's professional
requirements. You will also be expected to contribute to the technical support of
the clinical skills areas. This position will be both challenging and rewarding and

Practical training is a key component of the role and previous experience of
teaching or training delivery is essential. You must have knowledge of the
principles of safe moving & handling and breakaway techniques and know how to
apply these within a healthcare environment. You will be able to demonstrate
excellent communication and motivational skills and possess good planning and
organisational skills. A recognised qualification in moving & handling and/or
breakaway training is advantageous.

Training Co-ordinator (Moving & Handling and Breakaway training)

Duties of the role
Overall purpose
of the role
To be responsible for the development, delivery and administration of moving &
handling and breakaway training for primarily pre-registration nursing and
midwifery students. Delivery of practical training either alone or in partnership with
members of the Faculty’s academic staff to include annual monitoring of student
attendance, as part of the Nursing Midwifery Council’s mandatory professional
requirements. To contribute to the technical support of the clinical skills areas in
liaison with other members of the team, under the direction of the technical team
leader.
Main duties and
responsibilities
• Develop and deliver practical and theoretical based moving & handling and
breakaway training. A large majority of time will be spent delivering practical
training.
• Assess learners in training sessions to determine their successful demonstration
of safe practice skills.
• Participate in the evaluation of training and development outcomes in terms of the
transfer of knowledge and skills into the workplace.
• Under supervision, demonstrate an awareness of local and national guidance
relating to areas of practice and relate these in lesson plans and teaching
solutions.
• Ensure that all activities are conducted according to health and safety regulations
and best practice.
• Undertake administrative duties relating to record keeping in order to maintain a
central data base in order to inform the university of compliance with NMC
professional requirements.
• Work in partnership with both internal and external stakeholders to provide cost
effective and innovative training solutions.
• Be aware of current developments within their training area and alert the Faculty
Manager to the need for revision of delivery.
• Develop innovative and creative ways of learning to encourage full participation in
order to meet the needs of all stakeholders.
