Digitization is only a small part of connecting collections to public value. There has been too much emphasis on completing digitization over creating value. With limited funds, most money has gone to digitization rather than other important activities like marketing, content development, and user experience design. This has prioritized production over quality experience. Going forward, institutions need to focus more on creating narrative content, understanding user needs, and allowing content to flow through multiple channels. The goal should be creating value rather than just digitizing everything.
