3. 4 year old girl hailed a hero after saving mother and unborn brother
This beautiful little girl managed to save her pregnant mother as she was
having a seizure. You wouldn’t think a 4 year old would have the skill or
knowledge to be able to dial 999 and inform the ambulance service what
was going on. Well...this was one special 4 year old.
4. AUSTRALIAN Victoria Cross winner Keith Payne has reflected on the current strife the world is facing as he
met the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh alongside other war heroes. The 81-year-old was among 23 recipients
of the George Cross or Victoria Cross to meet the Queen and Prince Philip at a reception at Buckingham
Palace.
The occasion was part of a biennial three-day series of Royal events honouring servicemen and veterans.Mr
Payne, who was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1969 for leading soldiers to safety following an attack in
Vietnam, said the event was all the more significant given the current situations facing the world.”I think
events like this have become more and more important with the strife that the world is in now,” he said.
”They help to strengthen the bond between allies and recognise the great acts of bravery that happen, not
just in the armed forces but by civilians too.”It gives a bit of a morale boost to know there are still Victoria
and George Crosses being handed out
.”The decorated group, including Australian Afghanistan war veterans Ben Roberts-Smith, Corporal Daniel
Keighran and Corporal Mark Donaldson, on Monday met the Prince of Wales at St James’s Palace, and will
meet Prince Harry on Wednesday.
5. A dedicated 10-year-old boy in Jiangxi started his own business selling scraps
collected on the street as a way to help save his leukemia-stricken father.
Mo Suangyi is in fifth grade. When his father was diagnosed with leukemia, his
family discovered that it would cost more than 600,000 RMB to treat. As a way to
chip in, Mo began picking up scraps and selling them. In the past two months
alone, he’s sold around 700 pounds of scraps.
Mo also takes care of all the housework, including cooking, mopping the floors and
washing dishes.
One of his diary entries reads: “Dear father, you know what? I’ve earned 36.6 yuan
so far by selling scraps. I know the distance from 36.6 to 600 grand is as far as from
here to Beijing, but I won’t give up. So hang in there father and you will be fine!”
