![Tinie Tempah- ‘Written in the Stars’<br />Background on artist/ song<br />Tinie Tempah was born November 7th 1988 is an English rapper from Plumstead, South London. Before going main stream he used to be an underground grime artist releasing a mix tape called ‘Hood economics’ and two tracks titled ‘Wifey’ and ‘Tears’ in 2009. He first became popular and well known when his debut single ‘Pass Out’ reached #1 in March 2010, that was followed by his second single ‘Frisky’ which went to #2 in June 2010. Tinie is currently planning to release his debut album the ‘Disc-overy’ on October 4th 2010. However before that he will release his third single ‘Written in the Stars’ on September 26th 2010 which is the track I have chosen to do for my music video. ‘Written in the Stars’ looks likely to repeat the success of his first two singles.<br />Tinie Tempah first revealed the song on June 17th 2010 as he performed it live on Sony Ericson’s Pocket TV. He said ‘Written in the Stars’ is a real passionate track about the struggle that I had to face. You know I just really feel it is something to perform at festivals as well so I thought I might as well get my practice in and start performing it now’. After that the track got its first radio premiere on 1xtra on August 10th 2010. He continued to talk about the song in an interview ‘Written in the Stars’ was originally supposed to be the second single. I was on that edgy vibe but ‘Written in the Stars’ is all of that. I love the idea that everybody was a little bit skeptical after Pass Out came out because for me Written in the Stars is sort of the next chapter for me, it's like 'Okay cool, I've showed you this and now I want to show you something else, let's get into the album a little bit more and tell you a little bit about my story.' Frisky was made and Frisky was on the album, but there was a little bit of skeptical, 'Is Tinie going be able to ever do that again?' Frisky and Pass Out are a bit of the same nature but at the same time extremely different because there's nothing out there that sounds like Pass Out and Frisky. I was like 'Let's just give them Frisky if they like Pass Out so much, let's hold Written in the Stars a bit back' and fortunately it worked. I like the fact that Written in the Stars is just telling my story and coming out of the underground scene.<br />The Music Video<br />My music video is going to be performance and concept based rather than narrative because that’s how the original is. I plan to stick to the same formula as the original video by Tinie Tempah, however I’m not going to copy it exactly. I would like to put my own spin on it, make my own version and I’m going to stick to the conventions. I’m going to be the only person in my video so I’ll have to perform and lip sync, I am going to exaggerate these as that’s what Tinie Tempah does, in order for it to look more realistic.<br />I’m hoping to film my video in a town or city centre with a lot of high rise buildings,in an underground subway and hopefully a park, similar to the original. <br />My music video’s style is urban, with quite dark colours, which fit in well with that genre. I am going to be wearing jeans, trainers, a t-shirt with a leather jacket and a pair of sunglasses, similar to Tinie’s style and typical of the urban genre as that’s how the majority of urban artists dress.<br />I am going to try to really make the lyrics fit in with my video and put everything into the performance so the audience can understand the video and lyrics.
