In 2013 I was accepted into Graduate School at Central Conn. State University, and my first course was titled "Construction Project Management". This was my capstone presentation for the course!

What is 4D BIM?
How was it implemented on the New
Putnam Vocational Technical High
School project $114M?
4D BIM is really “4D Simulation” and the use of the term 4D is intended to refer to
the fourth dimension being time; so you it can be represented by this equation:
4D = 3D + Schedule (time).
3. New Putnam Vocational Technical
•Construction Manager (CM) utilizes these
Academy
3D Models to assist in constructability of
the new facility.
•4D BIM gives an advantage to traditional
approach of demanding Superintendent to
resolve all the conflicts in the construction
documents using 2D drawings
These models are good for visualizing how the
project will look, how it fits into the current
landscape, and used at a minimum for clash
detection of the Mechanical, Electrical, and
Plumbing (MEP) trades
4. 4D Modeling: Inputting
the CPM Schedule into
the BIM Model
First you have to have a 3D Intelligent
Model to start the process. This model
was simply for MEP coordination.

Construction Schedule Sequence
The building is divided up with how the construction is being sequenced. Below are the buildings with
their main usage shown:
•Bldg A – Administration/Library, Culinary, Cosmetology, Classroom, Dental, School Store
•Bldg B – Main Cafeteria
•Bldg C & D – Automotive/Auto body, General & Science classrooms
•Bldg E – Gymnasium
•Bldg F & G – Machine Tech, Carpentry, Plumbing, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Office Tech, Robotics,
Graphic & Visual Arts, Office Technology, HVAC
