6. PHILHARMONIC "Oltenia" Prestigious institution in Romanian musical landscape, Philharmonic Oltenia Craiova was founded in 1904 and it was recognized in 1947 by royal decree. 13. OLTENIA MUSEUMS Department of History and Archeology BANIE HOUSE Department of Ethnography Department of Natural Sciences Banie House is the oldest building in town, dating from 1699. Restored by Constantin Brancoveanu in the architectural style carrying his name, Banie House has two floors, with rooms with brick vaults downstairs, with bedroom and balcony upstairs. This is the place where the Divan of Craiova used to meet.
