- 3. ADVOCACY We need to have ongoing discussions with policy makers. We have been “counter-punching” and responding after issues when we should be looking at the issues and telling our legislature that we know “how to change that.”
- 4. ADVOCACY: Why Congress sees this as status quo with less than 3 years to make a difference.
- 5. ADVOCACY: How You need to think concretely about what you need as an educator. Then, show the policy makers what is NEEDED.
- 6. ADVOCACY: How Show the policy makers how to make things work or work BETTER. Be CLEAR about what will work.
- 7. ADVOCACY: Who Argue to the middle…because you can’t argue with the nuts…those watching will think you are nuts, too! “You can’t fix crazy” (Steven Layne).
- 8. ADVOCACY: success Multiple voices together are more likely to be heard. Thoughtful and personalized messages have more influence. Choose ONE issue and stick to it.
