YouTube and Google were used extensively for research, planning, and evaluation of a dub step music video project. YouTube allowed analysis of dub step music video conventions and provided audience demographic statistics to establish a target audience of 18-25 year old males and females. Google was used for research on the target audience, 1960s postmen costumes and styles, and dub step artists and music videos. iMovie was used to edit the video, applying effects like black and white, ghosting, speeding up/slowing down to match the music and convey emotions. Facebook and YouTube feedback was gathered and changes like additional lighting were made to improve professionalism.
HOW DID YOU USE NEW MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES?

3. YouTube was the most helpful out of all the technologies I used. YouTube allowed me to embedded videos onto my blog so I could analysis and see what conventions are used in Dub step music video. Also I was able to look at the statistics for the music video of which countries it was popular or the gender and age of who watches it the most. This helped me establish who my target audience. For example most videos were popular with Males aged 18-24 as well as females. This meant that we decided to make our target audience to be females and males 18-25.
4. Google allowed me to research about my target audience as well as about postman's from the era of 1960’s which meant that we could make our postman look as realistic as possible. I was also able to research about other decades in order to get there costumes and styling as accurate as possible and make the meaning more clear to the audience. Google also helped to find dub step music videos and artists because it was a genre I was completely unaware of. I also used Google to collect images for the mood board that represents our target audience. The reason using a website like Google is better then other means of researching is because it is quicker and easier to use. If I didn’t have Google to shift through sites to find what I was looking for it would have taken a long time to find items and websites about dub step to increase my knowledge.
5. iMovie iMovie was the apple programme we used to edit our music video because it is easy to use. iMovie allowed me to use different effects on the music video. For example in the 1960’s decade I used a black and white effect to show that it was an old era being shown.
6. iMovie continued. I also used high contrast and light to make the video look upbeat and the moments the song is upbeat. When the music took a sad tone I was able to use the ghost effects because that effect made Genie look like she was there not there and followed her. This gives a sense that she feeling lots of different emotions and she isn't in the real world in a sense because she's so distraught.
7. iMovie continued iMovie also allowed me to speed up at some parts and also reverse. I used these tools in some sections to follow the beat when it speed up or slowed down. For example in the scene where she is upset about missing her boyfriend I slowed it down because it went with the melody at that point and also to give the feeling that time is dragging on for the main girl because the boy she loves has still not arrived.
8. Our group used the sites Facebook and YouTube in order to collect feedback on our video at different stages. This allowed us to make changes in order to make the video look more professional. For example we listened to comments about the dig pack, to make the figure or the girl dancing stand out more. Jordan did this by lighting her.
