There is no doubt that EQ is a desirable and highly adaptive trait, and it is understandable that we generally prefer EQ to be high rather than low. However, obsessing over high EQ will create a workforce of Emotionally stable, Happy, and Diplomatic people who potter along and follow rules enthusiastically instead of driving change and innovation. They will be great followers and good managers, but don’t expect them to be visionary leaders or change agents.

* Online course: https://www.voiceofthebusinessacademy.com/course/emotional-intelligence-ei-leadership-development Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to understand and manage your own emotions, and those of the people on your team or around you. People with a high degree of emotional intelligence know what they're feeling, what their emotions mean, and how these emotions can impact others. For leaders, having emotional intelligence is essential for success in business. The five primary elements of emotional intelligence are self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. To be effective, the better a leader relates to and works with others, the more successful they will be. This webinar will step you through all of the elements of emotional intelligence and how to incorporate them into your leadership development to improve relationships, build trust, and create a teamwork culture. The more that you, as a leader, manage each of these elements, the higher your emotional intelligence. So, let's look at each element in more detail and examine how you can grow as a leader.

Learning Objective: Examine techniques for increasing emotional intelligence to access career opportunities Research has shown that emotional intelligence can be an accurate predictor of performance as well as an indicator of leadership and personal excellence. Emotional intelligence can be defined as being aware of your own and other’s emotions and adjusting those emotions to enable effective thinking and to handle situations. Employees and managers that possess a high emotional intelligence can typically read a room quickly, assess situations faster, and easily show respect and empathy for others. These soft skills may not sound as impressive as some of the skills learned in the hard sciences, but they can be essential for a woman in a developing leadership role. To develop into a top performer, emotional intelligence is beneficial to any woman that wants to progress in her career. Join us for this session as we discuss how women leaders can develop their own emotional intelligence and learn how to use it to their advantage to progress in their careers while managing their team to greater success. At the end of this seminar, participants will be able to: a. Examine the “double bind” effect that women face in their careers. b. Develop emotional intelligence skills to assess and lead others with greater empathy and social management. c. Discuss proper feedback in corporate environments that leads to greater team success. d. Assess the tools needed for women leaders to provide balance for themselves and in the workplace that allow for professional and personal success.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32. The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham. In today’s dynamic work environment people are more emotionally troubled. They feel lonely depressed, nervous, aggressive and stressful and this results in absenteeism, passivity, less productivity and attrition. This can also lead to conflicts but all conflicts are not destructive. Conflicts can be constructive if a person knows how to manage it well. Emotional intelligence is a personal attribute in employees which can help them to deal with conflicts. This exploratory as well as descriptive study is undertaken in public sector Delhi/NCR to find out and analyze the conflict resolution style adopted by the employees and to study the role emotional intelligence plays in choosing of conflict resolution style. Quantitative data was collected from 85 employees using conflict management style questionnaire by Johnson (1990) and emotional intelligence instrument by Emily A. Sterrett (2000). The data analysis using SPSS and MS Excel showed that employees of public sector have a very high or a high emotional intelligence and they mostly use collaborating style of conflict resolution. Emotional Intelligence (EI) and conflict resolution styles (CRS) are 75% related with each other
