          general counting.

        In decimal number system there are ten
         digits which are used to form decimal
         numbers.

Why computers use binary number
                 systems?


 In all modern computers, storage and processing
  units are made by electronic components which
  can only indicate two states i.e. 0(off) or 1(on).

 So binary number system is conveniently used to
  express the two possible states.

 We can easily design a computer circuit to
  process data with binary digits.

 It reduces the cost and improves the reliability.

 Everything that can be done with decimal
  system can also be done in binary system.
