Syllabus
Course Description: Medical-Surgical Nursing 2 provides an understanding of the
nurseâs role in health and illness within evolving practice environments and across
the spectrum of health and illness. This course will address nursing care issues from
a physiological, pathophysiological, and psychosocial context. Nursing students will
be presented with up-to-date knowledge which will allow them to think critically,
creatively, and compassionately.
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course students will be able to:
⢠Implement safe, effective nursing care for individuals with neurologic,
musculoskeletal and sensorineural dysfunction.
⢠Discuss healthcare aspects of patients with chronic illness with related
rehabilitation needs.
⢠Understand concepts and challenges regarding patient management, such as
oncology and biologic crisis situations.
⢠Understand emergency, disaster nursing concepts and the nurseâs
