Mammoth Cave National Park is located in central/western Kentucky about 10-15 minutes west of Interstate 65. Most of the park's resources and facilities are free, but fees are charged for cave tours and camping. Popular cave tours include the New Entrance Tour, Grand Avenue Tour, and Frozen Niagara Tour, which range from 2 to 4.5 hours and involve walking distances from 3/4 to 4 miles with elevation changes up to 300 feet and stairs. Visitors should be prepared for strenuous conditions underground with uneven footing and temperatures in the mid-50s to low 60s.
