1. EVEREST SINGALILA TREK
This trek covers the higher reaches of the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary in the West Sikkim, which is
famous for its rhododendrons, and spectacular views of the Khangchendzonga and Everest ranges. The trial
passes through dense coniferous forests which are home to a wide diversity of birds. The trek is a delight for
birdwatchers with an opportunity to see many rare birds like Black-breasted Parrotbill, Blood Pheasant,
Himalayan Monal and Rusty-bellied Shortwing, besides many varieties of Flycatchers, Laughingthrushes , Tits
and Babblers.
In Barsey one passes through dense thickets of rhododendrons below the Tal mountain ridge laden with conifer
forest of silver fir and hemlock. The trek winds its way through the source of two rivers, which originate from
moist grassy meadows. After Thulo Dhaap the trail climbs up to the Shingalila Ridge opening up grand vistas of
the snow capped mountain ranges. The highlight of the trek is the sunrise view of Khangchendzonga and
Everest from Phoketydara view point.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1
13th November
Drive to trekking point
Pickup from Bagdogra/NJP and drive to Hee Bermiok, our base village for the trek.

Day 2
14th November
Trek: Hee Bermiok to Samathar
The trek commences with a steep climb through mixed rhododendron and bamboo
forests.
Trekking Duration 6 hours

Day 3
15th November
Trek: Samathar to Barsey
Our ascent continues through the thick forest amongst the chirping of the birds.
Rhododendrons completely surround us once we reach the ridge. In the afternoon we
explore some trails around Barsey

Day 4
16th November
Trek: Barsey to Joreybotey
Today's walk is an easy one mainly through rhododendron and mixed temperate
forests. Towards the end we get our first views of the imposing Mt. Khangchendzonga

3. Day 5
17th November
Trek: Joreybotey to Khalijhar
A steep descent gets us to a stream from where we start climbing through
mixed temperate forests.

Day 6
18th November
Trek: Khalijhar to Chewabhanjyang
Early morning trek to Phoktay Dara, a viewpoint with spectacular views of
Kanchenjunga and Mount Everest. Today' path mainly runs besides the Nepal
border providing good views of the Nepalese villages on the other side.

Day 7
19th November
Trek: Chewabhanjyang to Uttarey
Our final descend through the dense forests gets us to the blissfully tranquil
Uttarey village. Night halt at homestay in Uttarey

Day 8
20th November
Uttarey to Darap - Sightseeing
After breakfast we move on for our day of sight seeing. Visit the Rabdentse
ruins and Pemagyatse monastery at Pelling. Move on to Khecheopalri lake and if
time permits to Yuksom. Night halt at a beautiful homestay in Darap which is
near Pelling

21st November
Uttarey to Bagdogra/NJP

4. COST INCLUDES
1. All accommodation and meals during the course of the
trip.
2. All surface travel in Sumo/Bolero, during the course of
the trip including sightseeing
3. Guide , cook and porter charges on the trek.
COST EXCLUDES
1.Travel from city of origin to Silliguri/Bagdogra and back.
Participants are requested to make their own
arrangements for the same.
2. Hiring of extra porters/mules for hauling excess
personal luggage.
3. Excess stay & meals due to bad weather conditions
or strikes, resulting in delay of flights or any other form
of transport.
4. Rescue / medical charges in case needed due to high
altitude sickness, any ailment and/or accidents
5. Soft drink charges, table drinks, laundry, cigarettes,
telephone expenses, beer and liquor charges

WEATHER
Being post monsoon season the weather would mostly be
clear with cloudless skies. The temperature during the
daytime would be cool and pleasant with the
thermometer dipping during the evening and night. Night
temperatures would range between 10o C to 2oC.
