- At your table, take 1 minute to discuss this quote, what it means to you as a science teacher, and what it means in regards to our students. Have a representative from each group share.
- The biggest issue was finding information. Card catalogs, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, and Textbooks, and Topic-Specific Books were our main sources of information. The card catalog I used in high school had most of the same cards as my parents pulled when they were in high school. Information didn’t change and update as often.

- The game changer: students don’t really need us for content anymore. Think about what you teach that students could not find on Google.. What is there? The big things they need from us include support and guidance regarding: how to collaborate, how to analyze, how to evaluate, how to communicate effectively, how to connect our content to other disciplines, their lives, and the world around them, and how to self-monitor and self-assess. These are skills we can help student develop through our content.

- Problem-Based and Project-Based Learning provide students with all of these opportunities.
- Explain the p21 rainbow. Though Technology is a component, other skills are required to facilitate 21 st Century learning. Today, we will focus on the 4Cs. Lovely model, but not a great tool…not a lot you can do with it. Above horizon – core content and outcomes in the classroom Below horizon – supports Roman Architecture… arch – keystone…most important part…. 100 years ago…. What would be the same? Much has changed… the keystone that holds this all together has not changed over the past years…. Remains constant. Keystone that holds whole model together.

- Teachers who want to move up the rating scale cannot ignore these 21 st Century skills. To move from proficient to accomplished in standard I, the teacher must “communicate to students the vision of being prepared for life in the 21 st century”. Discuss how the 4Cs are embedded in the distinguished category.
