ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS

2. MODERN CANADA
The architecture of Canada is similar to that of the countries of Europe, and the
United States, with the exception of the first nations. Due to the fault line nearby all
buildings are built to withstand a small earthquake. Skyscrapers are made of
flexible materials that can bend and wobble if there are earthquakes happening.
Same with the houses, they are made of timber that can easily withstand a small
earthquake.

3. MORE ON CANADA
 All buildings in Canada are not cheap to build, for one there’s supplies
which usually isn’t too expensive but then all buildings have to be well
insulated so that they can survive the cold, harsh conditions and
sometimes even have to survive snow. For the coastal countries of Canada
ignoring having to waterproof your house could be an expensive
consequence due to the amount of rainfall.

4. ANCIENT MESOPOTAMIA
Ancient Mesopotamia developed urban planning which was creating a city
and ways to get around their city (ex: roads, bridges or tunnels).They also
made the courtyard house which was a type of house (that was usually quite
large) where most of the house was built around a large central garden.
These were a popular form of house.

5. MORE ON ANCIENT MESOPOTAMIA
 Ziggurats were another thing that the ancient Mesopotamians made, they
were massive structures that took on the form of a terraced step pyramid
of receding stories or levels. Many of these houses and architectures were
built with clay masonry, complex forms of stacked mud bricks and
sometimes they used red brick to build small things such as wells or
monumental construction.

6. ANCIENT EGYPT
Ancient Egypt built many of their buildings along the Nile River, some of the more
famous building are:The great Pyramid of Giza and the great Sphinx of Giza. Due to
the shortage of wood in the middle of the desert (where Egypt was) the two
building materials used the most were sun baked mud brick and stone.

7. MORE ON ANCIENT EGYPT
 The houses were built using molds, mud from the Nile was placed inside the
molds to harden in the sun and create a house. Another building was a pyramid,
these were made from lots and lots of sun baked bricks stacked together shaping
the form of a triangle.

8. ANCIENT ROME
 Roman Architecture was based on Greek Architecture and many Romans hired
Greek craftsmen ad engineers to build their houses for them. Many of these
buildings are just made from simple stone bricks smoothed together or just
placed together. Some of the most famous buildings in Rome include the
Coliseum, the Pantheon and many aqueducts.

9. MORE ON ANCIENT ROME
 .Their houses were multi-story apartment blocks called insulae which catered all
residential needs.The cheapest rooms were at the top of the Insulae because you
were less likely to escape in a fire and because of the lack of piped water. So of
course this means the rooms at the bottom were more expensive because you
were more likely to escape unharmed in a disaster.
