  1. background – Our vision should reflect 21st century learners who are able to have access to the world through the technologies we have available here at Kawhia School. also interpret the photo to mean that today our children can have the whole world in their hands and it is our responsibility to give them that opportunity. this photo is reflected on every page to help remind us that as beautiful as it is in Kawhia, we need to also provide our children with the education and vision that will give them the power to choose Kawhia or the world.
  2. This is the philosophy of the navy and should be the foundation behind the vision of Kawhia School. No-one should be left behind and throughout my presentation you will understand how I intend to do this because if we leave no-one behind we can all go forward and grow strong together.
  3. This is a whakatauki that I believe is a fine interpretation of Leave No-One Behind in te ao Maori.
  4. This is a saying of tribes from the Aotea waka. To me the seed represents the children, the whanau and the staff of Kawhia School – no-one will be lost, no-one will be left behind. We have that responsibility to make sure no-one at our school gets left behind, not only with education, but also with ICT – great range of abilities in both confidence and competence with ICT – sometimes those with the least are able to better articulate their ICT learning with more enthusiasm
  5. Building the capacity of our teachers – very difficult to do global rubric as we all came from different points of experience and three out of the four were totally new positions

  7. Pāngarau – Maths Smartkiddies-Tutpup and Mathletics Schoolwide target focused on numeracy and one of our actions was to use ICT to enhance the learning of numeracy
  8. Paretao is used by Roimata to help her children with their self-directed learning and independent activities. She has the extra challenge of having 20 Y1-8 children Where she can pick up on wikispaces and the likes very quickly, another teacher of our’s didn’t know what a wikispaces was and was feeling very inadequate at the cluster meetings because he didn’t know what everyone was talking about
  9. Senior teachers have used mathletics course creator to tailor the children’s learning in numeracy
  10. Using Google docs for Mahi motuhake but also me learning to use screen capture after I couldn’t save movie maker
  11. This is one of our less confident teachers – he still at very much at familiarity stage but knows not to hold the children back. However, some issues that have come up with having less knowledge is not knowing whether the sites the children are going on are legitimate or not – have to try and stay one step ahead – eg moshimonsters
  12. First intentions but not going far – very time consuming – the idea was great

  14. Leave no-one behind includes our parents and we regularly put websites and ICT updates in our newsletter so that they can support their children’s learning
  15. One of the cluster’s ICT strategic goals is to develop communication across schools so we are at the beginning stages of setting up an e-relationship between the tuakana of kawhia school and Koromatua. The purpose is to find out what significance Kawhia has to Tainui and other important events pertaining to Kawhia. This began with an online survey that the children of one class collaboratively put together and uploaded onto surveymonkey. This was an eye-opener for our children because they assumed the whole world knows about the history of Kawhia and they were surprised with some of the answers. This will help form a basis of where they should go. Email and skype communication is planned between the students. Our school will develop a trail map and act as tour guides when they visit in Week 7. Koromatua will record and digitise the visit.
  16. All teachers have gained something from the cluster hui – questioning, websites, rubrics
