Mr. Boula teaches Language A Level 1. Students can expect to do a lot of reading and writing, including novels, as well as quizzes, homework, classwork and projects. Students will analyze texts and reflect on their learning. They will be graded on criteria including content, organization, and style/language usage. The class uses technology like Mr. Boula's website, where homework is listed, to enhance learning.
2. What do we do in Language A? Yes, we read and write... but we do much more. We analyze the world around us through text. We also reflect on our learning and ourselves. But first, a little about me...
3. · This is currently my 8th year teaching. ·I have always taught middle school...I started off at Troutman Middle School. ·I'm a National Board Certified Teacher ·I'm originally from Northern NY (not even close to the city...sorry!) ·My wife is also a teacher (she teaches 4th grade at Shepherd Elementary) ·I have a daughter - Lily (almost 2) ·and a son - Max (almost 3 months)

5. What can students expect? - Reading & Writing. You will read a lot. The majority of your reading will need to be done at home. Writing often, preparing you for 7th grade. - Quizzes - We have a lot of different quiz assignments. (20%) - Homework. I don't assign a lot of homework...IF we get classwork done. (10%) - Classwork. In class is where we do the most of our learning. Bell to bell you need to give 100%. (40%) - Projects. Most of our units end in projects. These are for MYP scores and determine continuation in the program. (30%)

Become familiar with the websites, as most of our homework is listed on there. I use technology often, and students will be asked to do a lot of different activities online.
