Attitude
Attitude is a mental position relative to a way of thinking or being; a leaning toward that
which you believe. A positive attitude is, therefore, the inclination to generally be in an
optimistic, hopeful state of mind.
Positive Attitude and Positive Thinking
by Remez Sasson
Positive attitude helps to cope more easily with the daily affairs of life. It brings optimism
into your life, and makes it easier to avoid worry and negative thinking. If you adopt it as
a way of life, it will bring constructive changes into your life, and makes them happier,
brighter and more successful. With a positive attitude you see the bright side of life,
become optimistic and expect the best to happen. It is certainly a state of mind that is
well worth developing and strengthening.
Positive thinking is a mental attitude that sees the bright side of life.
Positive thinking is a mental attitude and state of mind, which focuses on the full half of
the glass and not on the empty half.
It is a mental attitude that expects positive results.
People with a positive frame of mind think about possibilities, growth, expansion and
success. They expect happiness, health, love and good relationships. They think in terms
of 'I can', 'I am able' and 'I will succeed'.
Positive thinking people are not daunted by failures and obstacles. If things don't turn out
well or as expected, they will try again.
True positive thinking is not just saying that everything will be okay, as a lip service, and
at the same time think about failure. In order to bring beneficial changes and
improvement into your life, positive thinking has to become your predominant mental
attitude throughout the day. It has to turn into a way of life.
Real and effective positive thinking requires that you focus on positive thoughts and
positive emotions, and also take positive action.
How can you develop this state of mind? You can do so by reading inspiring and motivating
literature, and through visualization, affirmations and meditation. Explore this website and
you will find many articles, information and guidance about these subjects.

Why Positive Thinking is Important
We all come from different backgrounds and different circumstances in life. We all have
different goals, dreams, and successes we long to reach. No matter what your
goals/dreams are, never stop believing that you can reach them.
It’s easy to get discouraged. It’s easy to quit. It’s easy to say, “That’s not for me, I guess.”
Well, nothing worth it ever came easy. Whether it’s your health, career, family, or anything
else, the way you think of things can help determine the outcomes, or even better, your
reaction to the outcomes.
I’m not a doctor and I clearly don’t know everything. But what I have learned from
experience is that when I have good, positive thoughts about something, those things tend
to go better for me, or, if it doesn’t work out as I had hoped, I’m not as worried or stressed
about it. I hopefully did my best and worked my hardest, and I will have to keep trying.
Positive thinking will lead to positive actions which, hopefully, will lead to positive results. If
you don’t get the desired outcome, keep thinking positive and keep working at it.

Anxiety: Using Positive Thinking
content provided by Healthwise
Why is positive thinking important to help you cope with anxiety?
Changing your thinking can help you prevent or cope with anxiety. It can help you stop the
worry by replacing negative thoughts with helpful ones. It's also helpful in controlling panic
attacks.
Positive thoughts can help stop the "fight or flight" feelings that you have with anxiety. In a
fight-or-flight response, your body senses danger and the need to fight or run away. Your
body releases hormones like adrenaline, which makes your heart beat fast and your blood
pressure rise. Positive thoughts can calm you and stop this response.
For example, maybe you are about to have a job review. It's normal to be a little nervous.
But you have trouble sleeping and have a fast heartbeat and sweaty hands. You think
constantly about the review. You've been telling yourself that your boss is going to say bad
things about your performance—even though you haven't been getting bad comments from
her.
Or perhaps you have a doctor's appointment coming up. And you're worried that he may
find something wrong.
If you have anxiety, you may worry a lot about many things. You are sure that something
bad is going to happen, even though you have no proof that something bad will happen.
The more you talk in a negative way to yourself, the harder it is to keep a positive outlook.
The negative thinking makes you feel bad. And that can make you feel more anxious, which
leads to more bad thoughts about yourself. It's a cycle that's hard to break.
But with practice, you can retrain your brain. After all, you weren't born telling yourself
negative things. You learned how to do it. So there’s no reason you can't teach your brain to
unlearn it and replace negative thinking with more helpful thoughts.
Positive thinking also is good for your health in other ways. If you feel bad about yourself,
you could get depressed. Positive thinking also can help you handle stress better. Too much
stress can raise your blood pressure and make your heart work harder, which can increase
your risk for a heart attack. Stress also can weaken your immune system, which can make
you more open to infection and disease.

Positive Thinking Your Key to Success
By: Remez Sasson
Positive thinking brings inner peace, success, improved relationships, better health,
happiness and satisfaction. It also helps the daily affairs of life move more smoothly, and
makes life look bright and promising.
Positive Thinking is contagious (transmittable).
People around you pick your mental moods and are affected accordingly. Think about
happiness, good health and success, and you will cause people to like you and desire to help
you, because they enjoy the vibrations that a positive mind emits.
In order to make positive thinking yield results, you need to develop a positive attitude
toward life, expect a successful outcome of whatever you do, but also take any necessary
actions to ensure your success.
Effective Positive Thinking.
It brings results is much more than just repeating a few positive words, or telling yourself
that everything is going to be all right. It has to be your predominant mental attitude. It is
not enough to think positively for a few moments, and then letting fears and lack of belief
enter your mind.
Some effort and inner work are necessary.
Are you willing to make a real inner change?
Are you willing to change the way you think?
Are you willing to develop a mental power that can positively affect you, your environment
and the people around you?

Actions to Develop Positive Thinking:
Always use only positive words while talking. Use words such as, “I can”, “I am able”, “it is
possible”, “it can be done”, etc.
Allow into your awareness only feelings of happiness, strength and success.
Try to disregard and ignore negative thoughts. Refuse to think such thoughts, and substitute
them with constructive happy thoughts.
In your conversation use words that evoke feelings and mental images of strength,
happiness and success.
Before starting with any plan or action, visualize clearly in your mind its successful outcome.
If you visualize with concentration and faith, you will be amazed at the results.
Read at least one page of inspiring book every day.
Watch movies that make you feel happy.
Minimize the time you listen to the news and read the papers.
Associate yourself with people who think positively.
Always sit and walk with your back straight. This will strengthen your confidence and inner
strength.
Walk, swim or engage in some other physical activity. This helps to develop a more positive
attitude.
Think positive and expect only favorable results and situations, even if your current
circumstances are not as you wish them to be. In time, your mental attitude will affect your
life and circumstances and change them accordingly.

The Power of Positive Attitude & Positive Thinking
A positive attitude and optimistic thinking early in life predict health and well being in later
years. Analysis of 99 Harvard graduates found a strong correlation between their optimistic
thinking as college students and good health at age 40 and above.
In his ground-breaking book, A Primer in Positive Psychology, Christopher Petersen, PhD,
says, "...optimism has demonstrable benefits, and pessimism has drawbacks." He goes on to
say, "...optimism...has been linked to positive mood and good morale; to perseverance and
effective problem solving; to academic, athletic, military, occupational, and political success;
to popularity; to good health; and even to long life and freedom from trauma."
Even if you have been a pessimistic, negative thinker for many years, it's not too late to
change your way of thinking and reap the benefits of a positive attitude.
Characteristics of a Positive Attitude and Optimism
Optimists believe they are accountable for good things and that good things will generally
come their way. If something bad comes instead, optimists tend to write it off as an isolated
incident, an anomaly, or something out of their control; optimists believe things will be
better in the future.
Positive Thinking Takes Practice
If you're a person whose first thoughts about the meaning of something that's happened are
negative thoughts, be encouraged by the knowledge that the first step toward a positive
attitude and positive thinking is to simply think another thought. Thoughts are under your
control. Your pessimistic way of thinking is habit; habits can be changed.
When you catch yourself thinking a pessimistic thought about an event in your life,
first evaluate the evidence. What are the facts—not the fears—but the facts?
Next, think of alternate explanations and future outcomes. When your old car
suddenly makes a strange noise you may jump to the pessimistic conclusion that
repair will be costly, but maybe a minor repair will solve the problem.
Remind yourself to follow this approach with a daily affirmation such as this: When I
have a negative thought I immediately evaluate the facts and think of positive
alternatives that also fit the facts.
Practice the positive thinking approach outlined above and you'll find it soon comes
naturally. You may be amazed to realize that you simply feel better with a positive attitude.

Tips to Practice Positive Attitude & Thinking
By Carolyn Anderson
It is indeed refreshing to be positive in life. We all have lots of things going on in our lives -
from our demanding careers, to family concerns, to health issues - indeed, what we
encounter day to day requires the right attitude to be able to make our lives happier and our
goals easier to reach. Maybe all you need are little positive thinking tips to get you started.
Be thankful. Most often, we always look at what we do not have in life. We can right then
and there identify what is lacking in our lives but it is hard for us to be grateful of what we
have. There are a lot of things to be thankful for. If you did not get the promotion, be
thankful you still have a job. Be thankful to the challenges in life, as it will help you live
stronger. Being grateful, indeed, can turn the negative into positive - somehow it just a
matter of looking at life a little differently.
Believe in yourself. Events and situations in life may not be the way you want them to be
and some people may put you down and disappoint you, that is why you have to believe in
yourself. Cultivate the attitude to be able to tell yourself confidently that everything will get
better. Eliminating self-doubt will help you reach your goals whatever challenges may come
to you.
Write positive affirmations to yourself and keep them. Positive affirmations are powerful
positive thinking tips that you can adopt in your life. You can write them into a paper and
keep them. For some, you can watch it on video every morning or you can tell it to yourself
every time you wake up. This way, you are overpowering and slowly eliminating the many
negative thoughts that have been buried in your subconscious for many years.
Write all negative attitudes you have and burn them. If you have a bad habit of saying
negative things to your self or if you often have negative thoughts about something, write it
down and burn them.
Give yourself positive affirmations in front of the mirror. One of the many positive thinking
tips you can do is to do positive affirmation in front of the mirror. Tell yourself statements
that will help you think positively about yourself. If you have a specific goal in mind, like you
want to attract a good man in your life, or you want to attract good health, there are also
affirmations that are specific into those subjects.
Don't let negative people influence your thoughts. These people will pull you down and tell
you that you cannot do this or that. If not, they will tell you of problems that will soon
happen to you. They will only discourage you with negative statements that will only push
you to doubt yourself. Your choice then is to avoid these kinds of people or do not let their
discouraging words put you down. Go with people who are positive about life and you will
also be positive about life. These attitudes are contagious, thus be careful who you are
going with.

So if you want to change the way you look at things and live life positively, you can start
with these positive thinking tips. By learning how to be positive with your thoughts, you will
eventually realize how good it is to think positively and live life positively.
Carolyn Anderson strongly believes that positive thoughts can help a lot in reaching our
goals and in living a happy and fulfilling life.
Quotes on Positive Attitude & Positive Thinking
Their essays, poems and non-fiction writing were focused on the importance of thoughts
and the mind:

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people
to make it worth the effort. (Herm Albright, quoted in Reader's Digest, June 1995)
Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.

Conclusion
While the focus of Positive Attitude & Positive Thinking is to improve self-image through
positive attitude & positive thinking, having a more positive attitude can make you open to
a world of physical changes. In addition to changing your way of thinking, you can also
change your behavior and abilities by learning new skills.
But the bottom line is, you play a huge part in your happiness, and you can greatly increase
it by taking action and changing your attitude toward yourself. You are responsible for
yourself. Your happiness (or your misery) depends in a great part upon what you tell
yourself, how you treat yourself, and how you interpret your world.
We can develop a positive attitude if we are willing to have positive thoughts instead of
negative thoughts.
We should keep our heart with all diligence because as a man thinks in his heart so is he.
Believe in yourself and believe that you are capable of handling life's problems.
