Are you interested in becoming an Intern? Here is a project which can get you started. We are looking for applicants, and want to begin this project soon.
2. What is the Bayside Social Network Neighborhood (BSNN)? A program to connect learners, joining seniors in the home and the community to communicate and share resources, information and skills. We have applied for a grant to cover some costs of this program.
3. There are 3 objectives to this program: Provide computers, webcams and Internet access to low income families within the Bayside Community Educate recipients and community members on basic computer use as well as social networking avenues which are right for them Create an internship program where participants focus on a particular technology or skill, and then use this skill for creating engaging, interactive lessons to be used for other students
4. Focus on Internship A main part of this program in the Internship. This is an opportunity to learn a new skill, build on a talent that you already have, or to work together to create a project that you can be proud of. Although it is currently an unpaid position, becoming an Intern can provide you with new skills and knowledge and help you to become more productive.
5. Our first project: A video We developed a video initially when we came up with our project idea. I would like to improve this video so that it best captures the BSNN program. Here is the YouTube link to the video which we developed:
6. Why replace the video? The video was created to accompany the grant request. We completed it in a relatively short time. A new video can have enhanced photos, video segments, even a better view of the program. Using a team of Interns, we can work together to decide the best way to explain this new program.
7. The process of developing a new video: Outline components of BSNN program Identify common themes Create a script for the video Develop a storyboard with script & pictures/videos Identify pictures & videos to be used Create & produce video Market video
8. What will it involve? 2 to 3 group sessions to get project started and determine roles of Intern team Independent work with guided instruction and help as needed Some collaborative work with other Interns Time frame: Approximately 1 month from start to finish
9. Some potential roles Writing: Review program and write script Visual: Design storyboard which illustrates the script Photography & organization: Go through Bayside photos by tagging, categorizing & even upload some to a public site Video: Shoot and edit video Project production: narration, editing, and production using video software
10. Qualities of a successful Intern Self motivated Interested in one or more aspects of project (design, instructional design, photography, video, marketing) Willing to work alone and in collaboration with others No actual experience is necessary…We can train you for the task required
11. Benefits of participation Learn a new skill Challenge your brain Satisfaction in completing a project Experience in collaborative project
