4. Is It Enough Just To Be Gay?
The opportunity for LGBT leadership at work
There is a vitality, a life force, an
energy, a quickening that is
translated through you into action,
and because there is only one of you
in all time, this expression is unique.
And if you block it, it will never exist
through any other medium and will
be lost.
– Martha Graham
5. Is It Enough Just To Be Gay?
LGBT at SAP: A Look Back… and My Quickening.
LGBT at SAP: 2010
No formal LGBT presence at Diversity Days
Whispered perception that being out might hurt your
career path
Perception that certain offices were a “don’t ask don’t
tell” environment
Lackluster participation in LGBT groups
Little-to-no LGBT diversity awareness training
… I didn’t know a single other out lesbian in an office of
thousands. What role could I possibly play?

We are not done.
