PUHSD
April 2012
2. Part 1
1. Before you begin, make sure that the students understand that they will
be taking an important test that will have a great influence on their
placement in high school mathematics. If they successfully pass the AQT,
they will receive an Algebra 1-2 credit upon successful completion of
Geometry 1-2. If they successfully pass the GQT, they will receive
Geometry 1-2 credit upon successful completion of algebra 3-4.
2. Ask the students to clear their desks of all items. This includes scratch
paper, and any mathematics manipulatives such as rulers and
compasses. Calculators are only allowed for Part 2 of the AQT. Students
must turn in Part 1 test booklet before the calculators are distributed.
3. Distribute one number 2 pencil to each student who will be testing.
4. Distribute answer documents. Students must present a school
identification card to receive the pre-slugged answer documents. Test
administrators must compare the student ID to the answer document. If
students do not have an ID card, 8th grade school personnel must verify
student identity.
3. Part 2
5. After all students have received
pre-slugged answer documents,
students need to verify pre-
printed information. If there is an
error in the name or SAIS ID #*,
destroy the pre-printed answer
document, and have students
complete a blank answer
document using the attached
model. On the blank answer
documents you MUST have the
following information: Student
name, SAIS ID number, name of
test (AQT or GQT), and school
name. The only item that is
actually bubbled in is the teacher
name. See sample General
Answer Sheet for clarification.
4. Part 2
*If the only error is the birth date, just correct the birth date on the
white section of the answer document. DO NOT make a new answer
document !!!!!
5. Part 3
5. Tell the students that they will be marking
their answers on the pink side of the answer
document. The peach side should be left
blank.
6. Ask the students if they have any questions
about how to complete the answer sheet.
Answer any questions they ask.
7. Tell them that you are going to distribute
the Multiple Choice test but that they should
not open it until you instruct them to do so.
Pass out the test and ask them to follow along
as you read the directions on the first page.
Be sure that they know that there is a page of
formulas for their use. Ask them if they have
any questions. If they do, answer them.
6. • Tell them how much time they will have to take
the test. Write on the board start time and stop
time for each test. Once students are ready, they
may begin.
• AQT Part 1: 1.5 hours
• AQT Part 2: 1 hour
• GQT: 2 hours
•
• Circulate among the students to be sure that they
have completed the items on the front of the
AQT/GQT answer sheets properly (only if they had to create
a new answer document) and that they are
working in the correct area of the answer sheet
(students should only be working on the pink
side).
• Alert students when they have five minutes left to
work.
• After each portion of the test is completed, collect
all of the following items:
• The test (all of their work will be on the test-save these
until you receive the reports)
• Answer sheets
•
• If administrating more than one test, follow steps
1-12 for each test. At the end of ALL testing,
