Moodle 2.0 Community hubs
1. Orange
University
One rainy day, Tabitha, a clever and kind Moodle
Admin at Orange University, wanted to publish and
share Moodle courses created by other educational
organisations in Orange City.
“Community Hubs in Moodle 2.0”
A story

She got Moodle 2.0, created the Orange
City Hub and registered Orange
University to it.
People at Orange University started
publishing, sharing and enrolling in each
other's courses.
It was a good start but people wanted to
go beyond the walls of Orange University.

The word got around and soon, many
other local Moodle sites registered to the
Orange City Hub.
People on these sites could publish
courses on the Orange City Hub for
others to enrol in or download.
They could also search for, enrol or
download other courses published on the
Orange City Hub.
They soon found they have a lot in
common - sharing and joint projects
blossomed!
5. Several weeks passed …
Other member sites of Orange City Hub connected to Blue City Hub too.
Learning opportunities and possibilities exploded !exploded !

By registering with Orange City Hub, Blue City Education Department manager
found, downloaded and adjusted a fabulous digital literacy course offered by the
Orange Adult Learning Institute ...
9. With all this sharing and exchanging working well,
people wondered:
“Is there more beyond our local hubs?
What if there is a large, worldwide hub somewhere?”

They found MOOCH - a global, public space to
search, enrol in and download shared courses
from around the world !
To publish and share their own courses, they
registered their sites (NOT hubs!) to MOOCH.
11. Sharing (with a choice of licence of use!) became very easy.
As people contributed courses entire communities of practice grew
around areas of interest around the world of Moodle users.
