The results here showed a clear
preference for jumpy and gory
films, in order to make it scary.
Unrealistic horror films were least
favoured, perhaps as viewers are
unable to relate. The results
confirm that when I carry out my
planning, I should try and include
these features, creating gory scenes
and jumpy shots. This will allow it
to be as effective as possible,
reaching out to a wider audience.

The participants chose famous
actors as their favourite, with
reviews coming second. Using
recognisable actors/actresses will
attract attention as the more
celebrities involved, normally
means a better film. The other
options were all equally
important, with several votes
each. In general the votes are
fairly close, meaning no one
option is drastically more
important than the other.
However I will concentrate on
promoting ‘famous’ actors using
language such as ‘starring’.

4. 3. Would you prefer a past pace trailer with lots of shots, or slower with
minimal shots?

Around 65% of the participants
found a slow paced thriller trailer
more effective than a slow one. A
slow paced one can create suspense
and a sense of eeriness. I will
consider this when creating my
trailer.

5. 5. Would you prefer no back ground music and just natural sounds?

trailers with background music.
This is a clear favourite, with ¾ of
the vote i will obviously
implement this into my trailer.
Once I’ve planned my storyboard
and general theme I will chose a
song that will fit the trailer.

As I requested the participants chose two options, It gave me a clearer
distinction between the options given. In this case they favoured screams
and children’s laughter over other choices. Using these noises in my trailer
will help to create a chilling theme, reaching to my desired target audience. I
may use the other sound effects if they fit into the context of my trailer, but I
wont intentional plot my story around them.

This question was given a range of option, so I asked participants to chose
two as it may not have created a distinctive favourite. Participants chose an
old house as their favourite location, with forestry coming up second. The
other choices had equal scores, with a closet being the least favourite.
These results show me the best location in order to create the thriller scene
I’m looking for. However I will be limited as I may not be able to access
these areas when filming.

As the pie chart shows, in this case
there is no clear favourite or
preference to the most effective
villain. I assume this is as it varies
from different films, how the
character is represented, and the
context it is placed in. A young male
has been voted as the favourite,
however it isn’t by a big majority. I
have a limited choice of actors and
actresses I can use, and as the results
show no clear need for a specific
character I will use the best actor to
fit my storyline.

The results from this question showed several favourites, blood, hair,
makeup and clothing. These are all things I am in control of, so I will
focus on making these few features fit the theme to create a ‘scary’
character. In the planning process I will specify what I will dress my
characters in and how I will present them . The use of blood clearly
would represent murder, presenting viewers with a dangerous character.
Therefore I will include some blood/gory scenes .

From analysing the results, participants felt that the most important feature
to include was an insight to the film, followed by the title, release date,
reviews, punch line, and lastly the certificate.
Therefore I will consider this order when prioritising what I will include. I will
put a majority of my effort into making the story line clear, and will include the
other feautres, making the more important ones more noticeble.
