42. Note to parents: How to decode new words using Croco
phonics. -
1. When encountering an unknown word, ask your
child to point at it. Ask what the first letter is. 子女
遇到生字,先請他們留意第一個英文字母

2. Ask your child what sound the letter makes and
c-c-c-c!
have them repeat it. 然後使他們嘗試重複拼出該字

3. Break the word up into syllables (分音節) and ask
your child to ‘sound out’ and clap each part. (e.g.
cro-co-dile). Each syllable has a vowel (a, e, i, o,
