Rosalind Franklin was an English scientist who made important contributions to understanding the structure of DNA through her X-ray diffraction images. She worked at King's College in Cambridge on the DNA project where she shared her images with James Watson and Francis Crick, who then solved the DNA structure. Franklin later studied viruses at Birkbeck College but died of ovarian cancer in 1958 at age 37.
