You'll discover ...
Why asking for copy samples can be a BIG mistake
3 simple questions that reveals the competency of a copywriter. (All you do is ask and for this answers)
The number 1 , simple and QUICK way to find a good copywriter . (So simple its just a question)
Why hiring a cheap copywriter may be another BIG mistake
2. Dear entrepreneur,
If you are searching for a quality copywriter to help grow your business and you
don’t want to mistakenly hire an incompetent one, then you need to read this
carefully.
Why?
You’ll discover exactly how to do it right.
So whether you have created a product or a service? Or perhaps you have an idea
for a product or a service?
Or you just want a competent copywriter to help sell a product or service?
Or perhaps your old sales letter or VSL is not generating sales like it should. Or
perhaps sales are just frustrating and you need a copywriter to crank up your sales.
Or do you want emails written for your launch campaign. Or you want emails
written to follow up prospects and subscriber via an autoresponder.
Or you have never hired a copywriter before…and want to finally take action?
Or all of the above.
Then read this carefully so you don’t end up hiring a shenanigan pretending to be
the real deal.
Many people have made this mistake.
Truth Is There Are Bad Copywriters Out There.
There are newbies copywriters who claim to be super stars.
There are plain scammers who don’t know a thing about crafting a decent headline.
They end up wasting your time and sucking away your energy.
3. This is not a joke.
In fact recently, a marketer complained bitterly on Facebook about how many
times he had been disappointed by incompetent amateurs claiming to be
professional copywriters.
His money, time and energy were all flushed down the toilet.
He is now scared of hiring anyone.
It is no doubt a matter of importance to identify and hire the best hands. One that
can double, triple or quadruple your sales.
One that will advise you and help build out your sales funnel. And generate ideas
that may turn things around for you.
If you need this kind of copywriter then this short guide will help YOU.
It’s just 3 simple questions.
But first, here is one way that won’t work efficiently.
1. Request For Samples
Many clients planning to hire copywriters think the best step is to ask for copy
samples.
Well, here’s the thing. A phoney copywriter can have hundreds of samples, but
that does not make him or her good.
Another thing.
When you get the sample work how do you know it’s good?
4. Asking for sample works, and using that to judge the copywriter’s merit, is like a
man who has never tasted sushi before but decides to judge if the food tastes good,
right on his first trial.
It’s impossible to know the best taste of sushi, if one has never tested sushi before.
Likewise, unless you know or have knowledge about writing good ads, you’ll
never know if an ad is good or not.
So asking for samples only WORKS if you know how to spot a good ad or if you
have some copywriting chops.
But that is not even full proof.
Because if you have no idea about the results the copy generated, you can’t judge
it. You can’t truly say it’s a good copy or bad copy. While samples are good, they
don’t offer any guarantees.
The Best Way To Identify And Hire A Competent Copywriter
The best way is to ask another entrepreneur to refer a competent one to you.
Why does this work?
Simple.
If a copywriter has generated favourable results for another client, he or she may
likely do the same for you.
So reach out to your network and ask for a referral.
This can do the magic and can save you from making financial mistakes.
But if you have no network or you want to hire a fresh hand for a project, then
follow these 3 simple steps.
5. It’s a process I call the “elimination method”.
What it does is identify the phonies from the real deal by asking the right questions
and observing the answers.
3 Simple Questions
Question 1
How Do You Work or What’s Your Writing Process?
A competent copywriter will always do one thing before he writes any piece of
copy.
RESEARCH.
No copywriter of repute will jump and write a sales letter or any sales material
without doing research.
If you talk to a copywriter and he or she does not mention research, or does not
ask questions, then you are likely dealing with an amateur or a phoney.
A good copywriter may send you questionnaires, ask to interview you, and ask to
interview your clients (customers) or people around your business.
All of these are done to research your company, your product, the of the market,
what other companies in your market sell and how they sell it and everything
around your business.
It does take some time to really understand and research thoroughly.
A few copywriters can do the research quickly (in hours) and get results but most
of the time thorough research and grand slam results require time.
6. A copywriter can only produce a sale message without doing research if and only
if the copywriter is already writing for that market.
In that case, he or she had already done research and may have all the info at his
fingertips.
So if a copywriter says “I’ll do it in 1 hour” and does not already write for that
market…or agrees to write without asking you about the product, and your
business, RUN for your life.
By the way, you find lots of people like this in places like Fiverr. So beware.
Question 2
How Much Do You Charge?
Most copywriters won’t answer this question until they know the exact scope of
project.
But whatever the case, good copywriters are not cheap.
I know cheap is a relative word…but if a copywriter says he or he will write a sales
letter for $197, $297 or other ridiculously low sums, you may be working with an
amateur.
Why?
Simple.
Competent copywriters are NOT cheap.
But if you are on a low budget, you can go ahead and hire an amateur. They will
do their best. But don’t expect stellar results.
Like they say, you get what you pay for.
7. But the BEST INVESTMENT is to pull funds together and hire a good
copywriter. The result he or she will get you will be worth every penny.
Because the sales letter (or any other sales message) crafted for you is an ASSET
you can deploy, and can generate profit any day.
So to get GREAT results, invest in a competent and PROLIFIC copywriter.
A competent copywriter who knows his or her worth, and who knows the value he
or she brings to a client will not charge peanuts.
Certainly, there could be good copywriters who undercharge for their services.
But that in itself is a sign of an amateurish copywriter.
If a copywriter can’t charge well appropriately for his or her services, how can he
or she advice and help you generate maximum profit in your business.
If a copywriter is way too cheap, you may need to be careful and check again.
Generally, get ready to invest $2000 to $20 000 for a quality copywriter.
Quality emails can cost from $75 - $500 per email, depending on who is writing
and for what purpose.
These fees are nothing compared to the MONEY the letter will generate for you.
For example, if a sales letter can generate $100, 000- $300, 000 profit then it
makes sense to invest $10,000 or $20, 000 for it.
Same with all other sales resources like squeeze pages, emails, presell pages,
webinar pages, etc.
8. Question 3
Do You Have Referrals?
This is a good question because it reveals if the copywriter has worked for people
and gotten results for them.
These could be testimonials or comments about the ability of the copywriter. If the
copywriter has none of these, you may still get good results.
But your best bet would be to talk to a copywriter with testimonials and
recommendations.
That’s it.
