Ana Rita, Joana and Sara (11B) proposed this poster on this famous feminist. Result of a classroom challenge: make a state advertising campaign about some of the class’s freedom heroes. One of the aims was to bring our spirit up in a time of difficulties. As our heroes, we should never give up.

1. Betty Friedan (1921-2006)
 She was an important American writer,
feminist and activist in the twentieth century.
 In 1963, she published the book “The feminine
mystique” which prompted the second wave of
feminism movement in her country.
 She was co-founder of the National
Organization of Woman in the United States
and she also helped the creation of NARAL
(National Association for the Repeat of
Abortion Laws).
 Betty Friedan was one of the largest and most
successful twentieth-century feminists.
 She is a huge example to our group because
she never gave importance to what the others
thought or said about her because she knew

that her fight would provide a better future for
 Joana Guido
women. Thanks to her, finally, we can say
 Sara Oliveira
“Equal in difference”.
