- Skolkovo is a science park outside of Moscow that aims to be the “Russian Silicon Valley.” It is the country’s largest state-sponsored innovation hub, and it will receive around $4 billion in state funding between now and 2020. In India, PE investments quadrupling to $520 million from $137 million a year ago, according to Thomson Reuters data. China has long lagged the US in health care innovation and investment but that may be changing. According to Asia Society, healthcare spending in China is rising 20% annually and estimated to reach $705 billion by 2015.

- GE’s innovation on the GE MAC 400 to build a portable low-cost ECG machine to cater to the rural population who cannot afford expensive health care was launched as an improved version a year later in 2009, in U.S. as MAC 800. General Electric’s (GE) low-cost EKG machine was developed after identifying a need for a durable, portable, low cost alternative to the current EKG technology in rural India. A GE division in Bangalore designed this machine specifically to fit the needs of the population, and after early adopter success the EKG was modified and adapted for US value-oriented customers, particularly in rural settings.
- Saudi health care system is the most unique in the world. It is free of charge and if the treatment is not available in the Kingdom, then the patient is taken to the best medical facilities in the world, namely the United States The global medical tourism industry is worth $100bn, with a fifth of healthcare seekers worldwide originating from the Arab world, says business consultancy Frost and Sullivan.
