Brazil has emerged as an economic powerhouse and island of stability during the 2009 global economic slowdown. It has the 5th largest population and GDP in the world, and is expected to grow at 5% in 2010. Brazil is shifting from an exporter of commodities to an importer of knowledge and intellectual property. Israel is similarly an importer of commodities but exporter of knowledge and IP, making the two countries a natural match. There is growing interest from both Brazilian and Israeli companies in technology and IP-based deals between the two nations.
