Rome began on seven hills along the Italian Peninsula and eventually came to control much of Southern Europe and the Mediterranean region. The terrain was generally hilly with fertile soil. Rome established trade routes via the Mediterranean Sea and built an extensive network of aqueducts and over 50,000 miles of concrete roads to support its expansion. Key innovations included the Roman legion military organization and a system of laws and governance that still influence legal systems today.
31. Conclusion I think the most important things I learned about in ancient Rome were trade, aqueducts, and concrete roads. Without trade, Rome wouldn’t have any way of receiving foreign goods. Aqueducts were very important because they were a way to transport drinking water to the people. Concrete roads were important because they were a convenient way to travel throughout the Roman Empire.
