Intro To Population
        Predictor

• To begin to predict a population you must first
get your numbers of previous years. In this
  project I used the years 1850, 1900, 1950, 1960,
1980, 1990, 2000 and 2010. We used all of these
numbers to predict the year 2060
Graph

Years and population

                               Pick two points that
                               best represent your
                               population growth
Work
                              Point One:
• First you pick two (110, 45,684,000)
  points that best Point Two:
  represent your (130, 53, 880,000)
  growth.

• The you plug the
two points into the After plugging it in I got
Slope equation. the answer 409, 800
Work
• You then take your
first point and plug When plugging it into
                        Point Slope Formula the
  it into Point Slope
                        answer I got was 606,000
  Form.

• Your Slope answer
is M and your Point When plugging into
  Slope answer is Y=Mx + B I got
  your B.. Plug into Y=409,800x+606,000
  Y=Mx+B
Finishing up your work

• Solve your 409,800(210)+606,000-
  equation by
                          860,580,000+606,000=
  placing you
                               861,186,000
  number of years
in the place of X Y=861,186,000

Population Prediction of france in 2060 is
                861,186,000
Intro

• Another way to predict your future
population is to plug it into a quadratic
  equation.
Work

• Choose three points
                                    Points:
  from your chart on
                                 (X1,Y1)=(0,36)
  slide three. Round
                                (X2,Y2)=(50,41)
  the to the nearest
                               (X3,Y3)=(100,42)
  millionth.

• First plug in your
  first point into the 36=ao2+bo+c
  equation c=36
  Y1+ax12+bx1+c
Work

• Then plug in C to 41=a(50)+b(50)+36
the equation and solve for A
  plug in your next A=-0.008
  set of points.
• Now that you have
                      42=a(100)2+b(100)+c
  a and c use
                           B=-0.0292
  elmination to find
  your b
More Work

• After you have found all of your
  points plug your numbers into
Y=Ax 2+Bx+C. The answer is what

you get after you plug in
everything and you plug in one of
your three points into X and Y.
Intro

• This next equation that we will solve
for will give us a log graph. You will
  need two points.
Graph
Work
• The equation that
  you will need for
  this is Y=abx
• Then plug X and
                        41=ab50 and 42=ab100
  Y into the
  equation. You
  should have two
  equations so you
  can plug in both
  points.
Work

• After you have 41b50/=ab50/b50
  your problem 41/b100=ab 100 /b100
  divide b and your
exponent on both 41/b50=a and 42/b100=a
  sides of each
  equation
• Then place A in
  the place of A 41/b50=42/b100
• Then Cross Answer=
  Multiply 41b100 =42b 50
• Then divide by
  b50 41b50=42

• Divide 41 on each 41b50/41=42/41
  side b50=1.0243
• Get rid of the
  exponent 50 b=1.0004803
Work
• Now plug in b
  into the
  equation and
  solve 41=a(1.0004803)50
                          41/1.0242998=
• And then after a(1.0242998)/
  plug in your 1.0242888
  points to check a=40.02734
  your math. You
  got it right if it
  is close to 41

Population predictor

  • 2. Intro To Population Predictor • To begin to predict a population you must first get your numbers of previous years. In this project I used the years 1850, 1900, 1950, 1960, 1980, 1990, 2000 and 2010. We used all of these numbers to predict the year 2060
  • 3. Graph Years and population Pick two points that best represent your population growth
  • 4. Work Point One: • First you pick two (110, 45,684,000) points that best Point Two: represent your (130, 53, 880,000) growth. • The you plug the two points into the After plugging it in I got Slope equation. the answer 409, 800
  • 5. Work • You then take your first point and plug When plugging it into Point Slope Formula the it into Point Slope answer I got was 606,000 Form. • Your Slope answer is M and your Point When plugging into Slope answer is Y=Mx + B I got your B.. Plug into Y=409,800x+606,000 Y=Mx+B
  • 6. Finishing up your work • Solve your 409,800(210)+606,000- equation by 860,580,000+606,000= placing you 861,186,000 number of years in the place of X Y=861,186,000 Population Prediction of france in 2060 is 861,186,000
  • 7. Intro • Another way to predict your future population is to plug it into a quadratic equation.
  • 8. Work • Choose three points Points: from your chart on (X1,Y1)=(0,36) slide three. Round (X2,Y2)=(50,41) the to the nearest (X3,Y3)=(100,42) millionth. • First plug in your first point into the 36=ao2+bo+c equation c=36 Y1+ax12+bx1+c
  • 9. Work • Then plug in C to 41=a(50)+b(50)+36 the equation and solve for A plug in your next A=-0.008 set of points. • Now that you have 42=a(100)2+b(100)+c a and c use B=-0.0292 elmination to find your b
  • 10. More Work • After you have found all of your points plug your numbers into Y=Ax 2+Bx+C. The answer is what you get after you plug in everything and you plug in one of your three points into X and Y.
  • 11. Intro • This next equation that we will solve for will give us a log graph. You will need two points.
  • 12. Graph
  • 13. Work • The equation that you will need for this is Y=abx • Then plug X and 41=ab50 and 42=ab100 Y into the equation. You should have two equations so you can plug in both points.
  • 14. Work • After you have 41b50/=ab50/b50 your problem 41/b100=ab 100 /b100 divide b and your exponent on both 41/b50=a and 42/b100=a sides of each equation • Then place A in the place of A 41/b50=42/b100
  • 15. • Then Cross Answer= Multiply 41b100 =42b 50 • Then divide by b50 41b50=42 • Divide 41 on each 41b50/41=42/41 side b50=1.0243 • Get rid of the exponent 50 b=1.0004803
  • 16. Work • Now plug in b into the equation and solve 41=a(1.0004803)50 41/1.0242998= • And then after a(1.0242998)/ plug in your 1.0242888 points to check a=40.02734 your math. You got it right if it is close to 41
