2. The Baron Pierre De Coubertin
Pierre De Coubertin, the father of the modern olympics, was
born in January the 1st, 1863, in France and died September
2nd 1937.
Pierre De Coubertin was considered the father of the modern
olympics because he started the group that later became the
International Olympic Committee (I O C). The I O C promoted
international good will for everyone. Pierre created the symbols,
the olympic flag and the olympic rings. He also encouraged
ceremonies, music and pageantry.
3. Olympic flag
Perrie chose the Olympic five rings that came to be discovered in
a altar-stone in Delphi. He chose six colors for the rings (white,
yellow, green, blue and black).the countrys that compeated in
the Olympics had at least one of these colors in their country
flags. In 1920 the rings became the official Olympic symbol.
4. Mascots
During the London Games, London has promised to connect
young people with the games. In October 2008 London was
given the opportunity to design and make mascots for 2012.
The 2012 mascot was given the name Wenlock. Mascots can be
anything to animation, animals and anything that you could
think of.
5. Host Cities
This year London get the privilege of hosting the London 2012
Olympics.London has hosted the Olympic Games twice. The
summer has been hosted three times once in 1908 twice in
1944 and thirdly 1948. But this year the summer olympics will
be held again in summer.
6. Olympic Oath
Pierre wrote an oath for the athletes to recite at each Olympic
Games even up to now. The Olympic oath was first taken during
the 1920 Olympic Games by Belgian Fencer Victor Boin. In
2000, the oath was updated.
