To whom it may concern,
This is a letter of recommendation for Janelle Harrison. Janelle was employed with California
State Parks for over a year as an Archaeological Project Leader, partially under my supervision.
During the time that she worked for State Parks, she participated in a variety of projects
including archaeological survey, site recordation, testing, mapping, monitoring, and excavation,
as well as historic building recordation and monitoring. On many of these projects she worked
as part of a team under my direction and showed excellent skills with site/artifact identification,
photography, GPS use, and archaeological testing methods. She also demonstrated the ability
to work with Native American monitors in survey, testing, and construction monitoring
situations.
In addition to fieldwork, Janelle was assigned office and laboratory tasks such as research,
artifact processing, artifact identification, photography, cataloging, site form preparation, map
making, and report writing for both historic and prehistoric projects. She completed all of the
tasks assigned to her in a timely and efficient manner. She worked well with limited input and
produced professional quality final products.
Janelle has a willingness and commitment to learn and takes many classes and workshops
above and beyond what is required of her. This dedication to her own education and her
understanding of various aspects of culture, history, science, and archaeology enables her to
look at archaeological sites from a multidisciplinary perspective. It will also aid her in the further
development of her technical skills. I think she would be a good candidate for any
archaeological project or position.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need additional information.
Sincerely,
Marla Mealey,
