Patently Cool. I had never heard of agarwood, but now I want some. Here are a few things I
learned from the patent:
"Agarwood is a highly prized incense that is extremely rare. It has at least a 3000-year
history in the Middle East, China and Japan. There are also references to agarwood in the
literature of India and France, and even in the Old Testament of the Bible. Agarwood
remains today the world's most expensive incense. The value of agarwood shipped out of
Singapore alone each year has been estimated to exceed $1.2 billion."
"The resin is used by Traditional Chinese, Unanai, Ayuravedic, and Tibetan physicians. Used
medicinally, agarwood is a remedy for nervous disorders such as neurosis, obsessive
behavior, and exhaustion. Agarwood is highly psychoactive and is used in spiritual rituals.
Many religious groups prize it as a meditation incense, to calm the mind and spirit. In
Ayuravedic medicine it is used to treat a wide range of mental illness and to drive evil spirits
away. In Japan, it is considered by many to be sacred, and is used to anoint the dead. In
Buddhism, it serves as a major ingredient in many incense mixtures, and it is considered to
be one of the three integral incenses, together with sandalwood and cloves."
Where can I find a dealer?

Hello everyone. So far I know, Cultivated Agarwood Kits, invented by Mr. Robert
A.Blanchette, gives the best result. The resin formation is good and the quality produced
is good quality agarwood. In Bangladesh a company has it license. Does anyone know
the best & latest technology to extract oil from Agarwood? Also let me know where can I
get the equipments. Thanks.

Dear sirs The Malaysian goverment has embarked on a massive cultivation of agarwood
and at the moment 15ooo hectres have been alloted for such project. The catch here is
they have not have found the best species nor the best method for innoculation nor the
best distillation facilities. We a group of friends have decided to go deep into the matter
to have more information. I have also come to know there have been two conferences
organised by the EU pertaining to the matter. So we too are gathering more information
to help out. Profit nor moneytary gain is not our pririoty.

Robert A. Blanchette | Jun 4, 2007 12:13 PM
I am the inventor of this patent and after seeing comments posted from dealers for selling
"agarwood from native old growth forests" I am concerned. Aquilaria trees are now
protected in most countries and the collection of agarwood is illegal from these natural
forests. International agreements, such as CITES (the Convention on International Trade
in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora), accepted by 169 countries, is designed
to ensure trade in agarwood products from wild trees does not threaten the survival of
Aquilaria. Despite these efforts, agarwood products from illegally cut trees continues to
be sold and unknowing consumers create a demand that helps to destroy the last old
growth Aquilaria trees in existence. This patent demonstrates methods to produce
agarwood in young plantation grown trees. The patent has been issued or is pending in all
agarwood producing and consuming countries. This technology eliminates the need to cut
old growth trees, provides a new economy to poor farmers in developing countries and
provides superb quality agarwood for people around the world to enjoy. The patent
review states "Patently Cool. I had never heard of agarwood, but now I want some".
Products of cultivated agarwood from plantations in Vietnam are now being sold
worldwide by Scentedmountain.com. The incense of ancient kings and spiritual leaders is
now produced in a sustainable way and available for everyone to enjoy!

I recently started to plant 27 hectars of agarwood in Cambodia. I am in the process of
acquiring more land for the same purpose. We get our plants from Thailand and some
from Vietnam. I heard it takes about 3 to 5 years for the trees to be mature enough for
sale to use for distillery. Is there anybody interested in buying the trees when they reach
their age? Please e-mail me the price for each tree.

Ms./Mr. Reyna L. Zhang, Agarwood can be cultivated; hence the patent. Read Professor
Robert Blanchette's work with The Rainforest Project and the contents of his patent on
cultivated Agarwood. There are many Aquilaria(where Agarwood is derived from)
plantations in Vietnam. The quality of Vietnamese cultivated Agarwood is similar to wild
Agarwood. I am originally from Singapore, now based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Reyna L. Zhang | Mar 22, 2005 2:23 AM
I am the owner and master distiller of this rare and precious Agarwood Oil and also have
the woodchips for incense, etc. I am originally from Canada, but my company is in
China. I am one of the handful of Agarwood producers in the world that produce genuine
100% steam/water distilled Agarwood Oil. Less than 5% of Agarwood Oil and
woodchips on the market is pure and genuine. If buy Agarwood at a bargain...it is not real
Agarwood! Anyway, the effects of agarwood on the psyche are amazing. Every single
person that I have introduced Agarwood to in the Western World has been skeptical, but
after trying it, have been blown away by its effects. So, the million dollar question is how
to grow commercial Agarwood and innoculate it with the fungus that grows Agarwood?
Many are trying it in India, but so far, noone has been able to recreate wild harvested
Agarwood and Agarwood is impossible to reproduce chemically in the lab! Agarwood oil
has been labeled the Holy Grail of all fragrances and incenses on the planet and even
named Liquid Gold!
