1. Knowledge is the Key to Success
One thing that successful women have in common is that they are knowledgeable. This
does not mean that they are well-educated or well-informed it means that are rich in
information that can help them succeed in their jobs, careers or businesses.
The difference between knowledge and information is that knowledge is information
that you can actually useful. There are many well informed people who are not
successful because the information they have is little more than data. There are also
many highly successful people such as Warren Buffett who have limited amounts of
data but they have the right data.
An example of the difference between knowledge and information would two
saleswomen. One lady has a Blackberry listing all of the potential customers in town, the
other has a Blackberry that lists people who actually buy from her. Which woman do
you think makes the most money?
Knowledge isn’t just gained from the internet, classes or books. It is gained everywhere
and from everybody. In many cases you learn more from your network and listening to
successful people than from formal education.
A truly successful person learns how to apply what she learns to the knowledge she
gains from her network. She becomes successful because learns to see opportunities
and use them.
A good way to increase your knowledge is to increase your networking by getting
involved in as many as organizations as possible. This includes civic organizations,
professional groups, the National Association of Professional Women, and any other
group you can think of. Knowledge is everywhere if you want to go out and look for it.
