CI 350 Abstract
I am teachingthisclassas a review frompreviousyearsinthe past. The studentsthatI will be
havinghave alreadybeenthroughthistrainingmore thanonce. So,itis notnecessarilyteachingthe
skill,butmore like reviewingit. So,tostart off thisunitwe will be doinganintroductiononMonday.
On Monday,I will be introducingCPRbyusinga YouTube video,aPowerPoint,aposter,andthe
AmericanRedCrosswebsite. Fromthere,studentswill be more knowledgeable of whatwe are really
goingto getintothe restof the week. OnTuesday,we will gooverhow toperformCPRon an adult. To
do thiswe will viewalinktothe RedCross website,watchingavideoIprepared,andbycommentingon
a differentvideoonthe classFacebookpage. AfterTuesday,Wednesdaywe will be goingoverhowto
performCPRon a child. To do thiswe will dosimilarthings. Firstwe will view alinktothe RedCross
website,replytoquestionsonTwitter,andthentalkamongstourselvesusingthe Zelloapp. Thursday
we will switchoverfrombasicCPRprocedure andtalk aboutan AED. To do thiswe will use digital
imaging,podcasting,andalsoablog. FinallyonFridaywe will be wrappingupthisunit. The students
will endthe unitbymakinga videotoshow whattheyhave learned.Theywill have anoptionof which
type of videotheywill be doing. Theirchoicesare eithermakingavideothatshowsoff theirskillsthat
theyhave learnedthroughoutthe week,ortomake a funnyCPRvideolike we watchedthe firstday of
class. If theychose to make a funnyvideo,theymustalsoexplainwhattheyare doingwronginthe
videoafterthe fact. Eitherway I will be able totell whatthe studentshave learnedthroughoutthe
weekbasedonthese videos. There isalsoa twist. Since lastweekwe completedanartsand botsunit,
the studentswill needtoimplementtheirartbotsinto theirvideosomehow. Bydoingthis,the students
will be able touse 21st
centuryskillsbyprojectbasedlearning. Bythe endof the week,studentswillsee
the importance of knowingCPRandbeingable tocorrectlyperformeachof these tasks.
