Artistic experiments  in geographical research Dr. Michael Gallagher, University of Glasgow
How are spaces and places produced?  Socially, culturally, politically, economically, historically, materially, both by humans and other beings. Social and cultural geography
Representation has “framed, fixed and rendered inert all that ought to be most lively” We need to “escape from the established academic habit of striving to uncover meanings and values” so as “to cope with our self-evidently more-than-human, more-than-textual, multisensual worlds” (Lorimer, 2005) Representation
Away from meaning, fixing and knowing things Towards affect, performance, transience “ to excavate the empty space between the lines of representational meaning in order to see what is also possible. The representational system is not wrong: rather, it is the belief that it offers complete understanding - and that  only it  offers any sensible understanding at all - that is critically flawed.” (Wiley, 2003) More-than-representational geographies

Away from meaning, fixing and knowing things Towards affect, performance, transience “ to excavate the empty space between the lines of representational meaning in order to see what is also possible. The representational system is not wrong: rather, it is the belief that it offers complete understanding - and that only it offers any sensible understanding at all - that is critically flawed.” (Wiley, 2003) More-than-representational geographies
