Who Are We? Mission statement Our Mission is Love & Compassion. We are dedicated to working with orphans and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by fighting injustice one small step at a time. Thursday, July 29, 2010 3 Board Members A U.S. citizen working with Non profit organizations for over 6 years, she is now heading up the Small Steps for Compassion  project in Tanzania.  Her contributions include being an officer for the MIC foundation and VP of an orphanage in the DRC. She has worked with numerous foundations and programs in Guatemala, Honduras, Africa, and the United States. A retired Lieutenant from the Tanzania People’s Defense Forces where he studied Aerospace, Law and Admin-istration.  Post service, Juma received a degree in Zoology and became a professional Safari Guidefor the past twenty years.  An avid philanthropist, Juma has dedicated his time and resources to giving back to his community	.  Currently a General Contractor in Florida with a background in local and State Politics serving his local com-munity on the Board of Adjustments and Planning and Zoning Com-mission.  He has a passion for working with youth and has worked with high school students for over 10 years.  He is also a founding board member of the Make It Count Foundation, Inc. With over 10 years experience in youth ministry, serving on the Highlands County Children's Services Foundation Board, and  serving as President of the Walker Memorial School Foundation, Kaylene is now exclusively focused on the Make It Count Foundation, Small Steps for Compassion, as well as providing continued support to the Roatan, Honduras medical clinics. A professional in the semiconductor industry with a back-ground in Engineering, Paul dedicates time to philanthropic projects.  Having aided and partnered with Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, Mercy for Children, and now the Make It Count Foundation, Paul brings a perspective and expertise necessary to the Small Steps for Compassion project. A polyglot businesswoman, medical professional, and consummate world traveler, Roswitha has spent the past 15 years working with charities like the Appalachian Project, the Lakota Native Americans in South Dakota, and orphanages in East Africa and Haiti. Foundation History Established in 2006 501(3)(C) Status granted in 2007 Federal Tax ID# is 20-5367324.  Medical Clinic June 2007 Participated in a portion of the cost for a much needed medical clinic on the island of Roatan, Honduras.  One of the Bay Islands on the north coast of Honduras. Led a group of 26 volunteers to the island for drywall, electricity and landscaping prep.  Led a group of medical professionals conducting clinics in the local schools. May 2009 Led a High School group of Seniors back to the clinics that we previously helped to build.  We landscaped both medical clinics and ministered to the residents. Congolese Orphanage Since 2008 we have been fundraising and supporting an orphanage in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Oct 2008 First trip to Africa to visit the children at the Mercy for Children orphanage in the Congo. Tanzania Project March, 2010 Traveled to Africa to volunteer at several charity organizations Acquired property for the Small Steps for Compassion project. Our Goal We want to build a home for children in need, creating a natural and nurturing environment.   We will work in harmony with the local culture and environment providing a path of improvement to those that seek it. Self-reliance is a critical requirement.  While foreign capital is required to initiate this project, self-sustainment is our goal. Thursday, July 29, 2010 7
