Social Media for #SmallBiz 101
Presented By: Tim Sohn
Track: Business
Session Format: Single Presenter Session
Description: Owners of small businesses are typically very busy people. They have many responsibilities — from worrying about finances to running day-to-day operations. Sometimes they’re so focused on the daily “to-do” list that they don’t make marketing a priority, whether it’s through word-of-mouth, direct, digital or social-media marketing. Or they just don’t have the time. In this session, Tim will cover tools that make social media easier for business owners, as well as case studies and examples of successful social media strategies in action.

I recently attended a conference with Sree, the first chief digital officer at Columbia University and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He told us that we should always be taking photos because you never know what you’re going to come across. Send a tweet to @Sree. Tell him @editortim is talking about him at #NEPABlogCon.
Talk about how What the Fork Truck uses social media. What types of content do you post what times of day? How did you come up with that strategy? Why did you decide to focus on Facebook as opposed to Twitter, Foursquare, etc…? What tools do you use? Kuhcoon, etc…? What do you like about Kuhcoon? Have you tried others?I know, a lot of small business owners bring up the topic of return on investment – they ask, “what’s my return on investment going to be if I use social media?” What would you say to those people?
