2. WHAT DO WE SEE IN THE DEVIL The Acts Of The Devil Are EVIL Evil in its definition describes the devil and his works (destructive; injurious; wicked; Matt. 6:13 ) Our actions and our speech can be influenced by evil (I Jn. 5:18-19; Matt. 5:37) The devil destroys the faith with evil in our lives (Hebrews 3:12; Matt. 13:19; Rom. 1:28-32) We need to beware of evil from the devil (I Cor. 10:4-6)
3. WHAT DO WE SEE IN THE DEVIL All That The Devil Does Is VILE The devil is vile in that he causes dishonor, he is filthy, and dirty We can possibly become vile in our own ways because of the devil (James 3:14-18) Mankind will yield to sin because of vile affections (Romans 1:26-27) The devil is still at work today, as vile affections are very rampant (ex. Disney, Colleges)
4. WHAT DO WE SEE IN THE DEVIL The Devil Uses A VEIL To Blind Others From Truth Many cannot see the light of the gospel because of the devil’s evil ways (II Cor. 4:3-4) We can remove all of the devil’s attempts at putting up a spiritual blinder (II Cor. 3:14-16) When one is not willing to follow the Light, they will continue to be veiled in darkness (John 3:19-21)
5. WHAT DO WE SEE IN THE DEVIL A LIE Is All That The Devil Offers The falsehood of the devil is very much alive in our day, but it causes death (Revelation 21:8) The devil is the father of all lies, and some choose to be his children (Jn 8:44-45; Rom. 1:24-25; Acts 5:1-4; 13:8-10) Warnings against lies have always been necessary (Lev. 19:11; Eph. 4:25, 27)
6. WHAT DO WE SEE IN THE DEVIL Many Are LED By The Devil The devil is out to lead mankind into spiritual captivity, and then destruction (Rom. 8:13-14) The Bible warns us of the devil’s servants (Matt. 24:24; II Peter 2:1-2; Acts 20:28-32) There are examples of being led astray (I Cor. 12:2; James 1:13-15; John 13:2) The devil has led mankind the same way since the beginning (Gen. 3:6; I John 2:15-17)
7. WHAT DO WE SEE IN THE DEVIL Men DIE Spiritually Because Of The Devil Physical death came because of the sin which was brought on by the devil’s temptations (Romans 5:12) Since all have sinned, all will die physically, and possibly even spiritually (Rom. 3:23; 6:23) The devil wants us to suffer eternal separation from God (spiritual death), and we want to live with God (I Cor. 15:22-26)
8. WHAT DO WE SEE IN THE DEVIL Many Think They LIVED If They Served The Devil Many who live in sin think they are “living it up” and doing what is right (Luke 9:23-26) The devil wants us to live for the flesh and fulfill all of life’s pleasures (Luke 12:16-21; I Tim 5:6) We need to make sure that this worlds desires, never hinder us from heaven (James 5:1-3, 5) We need to learn from other examples (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
9. WHAT DO WE SEE IN THE DEVIL The Devil Wants You To Sit IDLE In Your Sins We need to be aware that the devil does not want us to be saved, but to die in sin (I Pet. 5:8) We need to see the urgency in resisting the devil and hearing God’s calling (James 4:7-8; Hebrews 3:15-19) If you are in sin, don’t sit idle, but overcome the devil and turn to God this day! (I John 3:8)
10. WILL YOU BE FREE FROM SIN ? - Hear John 12:48 - Believe John 8:24 - Repent Luke 13:3, 5 - Confess Matt. 10:32-33 - Baptized Mark 16:16 - Faithful Rev. 2:10 ROMANS 6:1-8; 16-18
