Presentation is based on experience that I've gained while designing quite unique mobile application. I'm going to share ideas on how you can use non typical features of mobile devices, mainly NFC however we're going to check out also GPS, accelerometer and camera. All of that to raise usability of mobile app by raising level of automation and reducing ceremony required to use your app, and thus enabling usage for everyone.

GIDS-2023 A New Hope for 2023? What Developers Must Learn Next

For too long, mobile app toolchains have been a convoluted series of developers' laptops, precious "We only build the production version on Fred's machine" rules, Rube-Goldberg machines, string and bubble gum. This is not how it was supposed to be! The software industry has known, established principles for building and shipping high-quality software and the tools to support these principles in the mobile space are finally starting to come of age. In this talk we'll focus on applying software engineering principles such as continuous integration/continuous delivery, automated testing and so on to mobile HTML5/JS (client) and C# (server) applications. We'll cover some familiar territory like TeamCity and Octopus but also some possibly unfamiliar members of the tool-chain like Node, Gulp, Chutzpah, Karma and AppBuilder. Our end goal is to have a Cordova application built via our pipeline and to have an .ipa (iOS) or .apk (Android) file as a normal build artifact, with nothing more than a "git push" to trigger it all.

Nowadays, UX is a buzzword and user experience is something every IT specialist has, at least, heard about. UX is being increasingly added to job titles and company values with and without reason. But what is user experience without the users? Can you deliver a great solution for someone without ever considering that someone's perspective? Unfortunately, it is more often omitted during project life cycles than not. This talk was delivered during the XLR8 conference 2016 in Sofia, Bulgaria. I discussed WHY including the users in the production process is so important and HOW they can be included even in projects that have limited budgets or short timelines. I combined the abstract glory of user research with practical methods for including actual users in your projects that you can personally apply in order to achieve innovative and successful solutions.
