This document describes a new nanomedicine called CelecoxCur for the treatment of arthritis. CelecoxCur is a hybrid drug that combines celecoxib for its anti-inflammatory properties with curcumin to improve solubility. As a nanoparticle formulation, CelecoxCur is water soluble allowing for lower and safer dosing compared to oral celecoxib. Initial studies show CelecoxCur is more potent than celecoxib, non-toxic, and cost-effective to produce. Further research is needed including cGMP manufacturing, animal efficacy studies, and clinical trials to develop CelecoxCur as a new treatment for arthritis.
