AP PSYCH
Course Description
This course will introduce you to the
systematic and scientific study of the
behavior and mental processes of
humans and other animals. We will
explore the various subfields of
psychology as well as the ethics and
methods that psychologists use. I look
forward to the opportunity to awaken
your curiosity and excite your interest in
the field of Psychology! In addition to
the study of facts and methods, we will
also complete experiments, do
demonstrations and invite guest speaks
into our classroom. Since this is an
Advanced Placement course, the
curriculum is guided by the College
Board, and you will be prepared to take
the AP Psychology exam in May.

Senior Culminating Project
All seniors are required to complete 20 hours of service by
May, and assemble a graduation project that will be presented
to the class. In addition to the service hours that must be
completed, students must produce an original project that has
visual, oral and written components. The project will be
explained in detail at the beginning of the year and students
will be required to complete several “checkpoints” throughout
the course of the year.

Cheating/Plagiarism:
Don’t Do It!
Plagiarism on papers and
projects, cheating during
tests/quizzes and copying of
homework will NOT be tolerated.
All parties involved will receive a
ZERO on the assignment and I
will contact home. Look at it this
way – do not GIVE answers and
do not TAKE answers. Both are
considered cheating.
What if I’m absent?
Make-Up Work - As soon as you
return, check for missed in-class
and homework assignments.
Extra papers will be available in
the classroom. If you have any
questions, please see me.
Tests/Quizzes – If you are
absent for a test or quiz you
must see me to schedule your
makeup. We can set up another
time that is convenient for you.
The test must be taken within a
reasonable amount of time once
you return to school. We will
determine this time frame
together.
Homework/Chapter Study
Guides
For each chapter, you will create a “cheat
sheet” that can be used for AP review in
the Spring. This chapter summary will
include definitions of key terms and
answers to learning objective questions
that derive from the College Board’s AP
Psychology course guidelines. These
chapter study guides will be collected
and graded at or near the beginning of
each chapter to ensure that you
completed the assigned reading and are
prepared for class.
“Opportunity is missed by most people
because it is dressed in overalls and
looks like work.”
– Thomas A. Edison
I will ALWAYS respect and
appreciate your BEST EFFORT,
so give it your all!
Extra Help
I am always available if you have
questions or need help. I am
accessible during periods 4, 5 and 7,
before and after school by
appointment. See me after class so we
can set up a time and place for you to
get extra help!
