2. Roles
This week, you’ll be experiencing the stages of the
public peace process by applying them to the Israeli-
Palestinian Conflict. You will take on one of the
following roles:
• Israeli Leader - researches and argues on
behalf of the Israelis.
• Palestinian Leader - researches and argues on
behalf of the Palestinians.
• Impartial Fact Finder - researches the history
of peace efforts in the region and creates and/or
collects statistics, graphs, charts, maps to
substantiate facts on both sides.
• Chief Mediator - Analyzes both sides of the
issues, negotiates a compromise and prepares
the final presentation.
3. Step One…
(Today and Tomorrow)
• Recall the background of this conflict.
How did it begin? What events fueled it?
• Your goal is to answer this question: How
can we bring an end to the conflict
between the Israelis and Palestinians?
• Use the resources to research the major
issues that are preventing peace today.
• Use our class BLOG to discuss the issues
with your team
4. Step Two…
• Chief Mediator will download the
PowerPoint Template.
• Include your charts, maps and other
pertinent statistics and graphics to make it
convincing.
• Include your group’s compromise and
reflection
• Israelis/Palestinians – finalize your
research and be ready to hold a fishbowl-
style discussion in front of the class
